Together, we can Unlock Stratospace.About The RoleAs a Senior Systems Engineer, you will make a significant contribution to the design, development and implementation of the Zephyr system. Drawing on your systems engineering experience, you will lead defined technical activities and contribute to complex engineering projects, helping to ensure that performance, safety and regulatory requirements are satisfied. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver agreed project objectives and robust engineering outcomes.Responsibilities to include:Project Delivery: Lead systems engineering work packages and integration activities, coordinating tasks, dependencies and technical inputs to support delivery against agreed cost, schedule and quality objectives.Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers, contribute to technical decisions within the assigned area and promote good systems engineering practice.Team Contribution: Support the development of less experienced engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing and constructive technical review.Compliance Support: Contribute to the preparation and review of compliance evidence, test programmes and technical documentation, working with appropriately authorised compliance and certification specialists.Contribute to and, where assigned, lead system design activities including concept development, specifications and system architecture, considering aerodynamics and mechanical integration, avionics hardware and software, communications and payload integration.Operational Support: Monitor and analyse system performance and support anomaly investigation, resolution and recovery activities, taking technical ownership within the assigned area.System Design Reviews: Prepare for, contribute to and, where assigned, lead system design reviews including SRR, PDR and CDR.Requirements Management: Perform requirements elicitation, analysis, allocation, traceability, prioritisation, verification and validation, baselining and maintenance.Verification and Validation: Develop and coordinate proportionate verification and validation activities for integrated systems, including system-level testing and mission simulation.Regulatory Compliance: Apply applicable certification, airworthiness and safety requirements within the assigned scope, with guidance from authorised specialists where required.Research and Development: Maintain awareness of relevant HAPS technologies, methods and industry developments.Test Execution: Plan, support and execute test activities to demonstrate system performance and reliability, and document the results.Risk Management: Identify, assess and support the mitigation of technical and operational risks associated with HAPS development and operations.Customisation and Optimisation: Develop integration solutions for mission needs and support system optimisation across different operational environments.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, project and analysis engineers, to coordinate technical activities and achieve effective system integration.Documentation: Produce and maintain clear, configuration-controlled engineering documentation, including specifications, analyses, test evidence and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.Customer and Supplier Interaction: Support technical engagement with customers and suppliers and, where assigned, act as the technical point of contact for a defined scope.
