Barnsmuir Farm is currently recruiting for the 2024 fruits and vegetable harvest. We are currently looking for motivated individuals to come and help harvest our fruits and vegetable crops from early June until late November 2024. The work is very physical so you must be physically fit as lifting will be involved. Great dexterity is needed when picking soft fruit to ensure it is harvested undamaged. Workers will need to be very agile to ensure this. Please note that we will require all applicants to commit to working 6 days a week and up to 8 hours per day, however this can vary depending on the weather, the quality of the crop and time of season. To meet customer orders, the job will require flexibility on the working hours and rest days, early starts and late finishes. You will be paid according to the Scottish Agricultural Wages Order and required to achieve minimum performance targets; with piecework rates enabling you to earn a bonus. All of our fruit is grown in poly tunnels but workers should be prepared to work in different weather conditions. Our strawberries are all table top grown, making it easier to pick. **Home-Start Co-ordinator – 25 hours a week** Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire has been successfully making a positive difference to families with young children in our local community for the last 40 years. We want to see a society where every local parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. It’s not always easy to ask for help or know where to go. Home-Start provides regular support and practical help to families under stress, helping to prevent family crises. Home-Start is looking for a co-ordinator to join our professional team. You will be managing a caseload of families who have at least one child aged 9 or under, who are supported by weekly Home-Visiting services. This role will also include the management of some of Home-Start’s weekly Family Support Groups. You will be required to manage the planning and delivery of the Family Support Groups, visit families in their own homes and train and support volunteers, together with the existing service delivery team. With experience working as part of a team, you should have a good understanding of the needs of families with young children, including the challenges parents today face. You must be committed to good safeguarding practices, and experience of working with other Family Support services would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Having experience of working in the voluntary sector would also be desirable.
