Trainee Teaching AssistantPrimary School in Toxteth (L8)Start Date: September 2026 A primary school located in Toxteth is looking to recruit a Trainee Teaching Assistant for one of their KS1 (Key Stage 1) classrooms. Responsibilities of the Trainee Teaching Assistant As a Trainee Teaching Assistant within KS1, you will: • Support lesson preparation: Assist teachers in preparing materials and resources for lessons., • Create a safe and engaging environment: Help establish a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere that supports pupils during a critical stage in their primary education., • Classroom assistance: Work alongside the class teacher to support pupils during activities, assist with classroom management, and encourage positive behaviour., • Promote learning and independence: Help pupils engage with lessons, overcome challenges, and develop their confidence and independence., • Contribute across the curriculum: Support pupils in core subjects such as English, mathematics, and science. Essential Qualities and Skills: • Strong communication skills., • Enthusiasm and a passion for working with children., • A commitment to fostering pupil development and achievement. Summary of the Role & Expectations • Support pupils by ensuring their safety and facilitating their access to learning opportunities., • Encourage pupils to develop independence, where appropriate., • Prepare the classroom for lessons and tidy up after., • Assist in managing pupil behaviour and report any concerns to the teacher., • Provide support to pupils to help them understand lesson instructions., • Aid pupils in engaging with the school curriculum (e.g., English, maths, etc.), as directed by the teacher., • Supervise pupils during lunchtimes., • Adhere to school policies and procedures, particularly regarding safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection. Report any concerns to the relevant individual. Role Details • Working Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday., • Includes a 30-minute welfare duty., • Eligibility: Open to candidates currently studying towards a TA, CACHE, or Childcare qualification., • Pay Rate: £14.25 – £15.00 per hour.
