The Transport fleet, covering the whole of the uk, Ireland and most of Europe has a big impact on the service we provide as Eland cables, running a mix fleet of Mercedes, Scania, DAF and Volvo totalling over 125 vehicles and trailer within the fleet. Accountability/Responsibilities: • Comply with all H&S, risk assessments and safe systems of work., • Fully conversant with the following Government documents., • Heavy goods vehicle (HGV) inspection manual, • Guide to maintaining road worthiness., • Contribute to improving guidelines and processes for the department., • Complete maintenance work within the RM schedule., • Liaising with TP suppliers to attain correct parts., • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness., • Conscientious and Accurate in their role to demonstrate a high standard of workmanship., • must be technically competent and operationally aware of the safety standards that apply to the vehicles they examine, techniques of vehicle examination, diagnosis, and reporting., • Ability to work:, • within guidelines given and to strict deadlines., • under pressure., • actively seek solutions to problems., • Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualifiedtechnician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles / trailers., • C+E license desired but not essential for attending MOT tests at off-site ATF's. Vehicle Technician Mercedes-Benz of Salisbury Mercedes-Benz of Salisbury is looking for an experienced Technician with dealership history. As a Mercedes-Benz Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of service operations, defined assembly operations and maintenance repairs with the highest level of quality and efficiency. You will promote the Mercedes-Benz brand image through reliable and cost-efficient work. The successful applicant will have considerable experience and will have spent the majority of this time working for a main dealer. Main Purpose of Position: To carry out all service and repair tasks across the full model range as instructed. All service and maintenance work is to be completed with the utmost quality and efficiency. Comprehensive diagnosis and repair of malfunctions. Using specialist knowledge and a high diagnostic ability to both support Maintenance Technicians and to carry out extensive vehicle repairs as instructed. Accountabilities: • Performance of all maintenance services according to the manufacturers instructions and according to the maintenance schedule/Service processor, • All visual inspections, adjustment operations, adjustments, operating fluid changes and additions, replacement of worn equipment (e.g. brake linings), • Formulation of difficult and complex diagnoses using up-to-date diagnosis technology, approaches/methods, and procedures., • Carry out complex disassembly/assembly procedures, e.g. repair of automatic transmissions or rectification of engine running complaints., • Install additional, extensive and complex components and systems using the instructions., • Independently carries out final inspections and function tests on all complex repair work, • Parameterises with the help of technologies/systems, and performs data transfer/updates soft ware, • Guides maintenance technicians in extensive repair operations case-by-case in teamwork and supervises quality and safety, • Clarifies complex diagnosis jobs directly with the customer in cooperation with the diagnostic technician and/or service advisor, • Provides for professional re-documentation, e.g. Warranty processes and legally necessitated jobs requiring documentation (e.g. VOSA MOT Documentation, • Diagnosis and repair services for defined and qualified specialities: (drive and power systems/functions, Traction control and driving safety, systems/functions, comfort and safety systems/functions), • Level 3 Certification in Automotive Vehicle Servicing & Repair or equivalent., • Experience of working for an automotive retailer, preferably within main dealer, • High level of attention to detail, • Ability to work as part of a team, • Highly competitive salary and bonus scheme which is reviewed every 3 months., • Accredited Mercedes-Benz training and qualifications which covers the latest technology including hybrid and electric cars., • Up to 25 Days annual leave plus bank holidays, • Pension Scheme with employer contributions, • Employee Assistance Programme, • Eyecare Vouchers, • Cycle to work scheme, • £400 Employee referral scheme, • Life Assurance Policy, • Staff Discounts MOTs and Repair, • Staff Retail Purchase Scheme, • Full uniform provided Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 17.30 (30-minute unpaid lunch break and 2 x 15-minute unpaid tea breaks). 42.5 hours per week.
