Science Apprenticeship - Asbestos L3 Bridgwater Asbestos analysts and surveyors play a vital role in protecting people and the environments they live and work in. Operating at the intersection of science, safety, and regulation, they identify and assess asbestos risks in buildings, helping ensure that materials are managed, removed, or handled safely. From on‑site surveys to detailed laboratory analysis, their work is essential in preventing exposure and maintaining compliance across a wide range of industries. The role balances fieldwork and technical expertise. You may be carrying out surveys in homes, offices, or construction sites, collecting samples and assessing risk, then supporting or interpreting analysis to confirm the presence of asbestos. Your findings directly inform critical decisions, from refurbishment plans to large‑scale demolition projects, making accuracy and professionalism key. There’s also a clear pathway for progression. With experience, you could specialise in air monitoring, consultancy, project management, or compliance, building a career that combines technical knowledge with real‑world impact across sectors such as construction, environmental services, and property management. At Tiro, we partner with ambitious, forward‑thinking employers to create genuinely unique apprenticeship opportunities. Our employer partners are committed to developing future science professionals by offering meaningful, hands‑on experience in real working environments. As an Asbestos Analyst & Surveyor apprentice, you’ll gain practical exposure to laboratory work and site‑based activities while earning and building the foundations of a long‑term scientific career. You prefer being on site rather than behind a desk, and you are comfortable working in environments such as construction, demolition, or industrial settings. Early starts, travel, and changing locations don’t put you off – you enjoy the variety and the sense of purpose that comes with hands‑on work. You take safety seriously and understand the importance of following procedures properly. Working to strict rules, method statements, and risk assessments feels natural to you, and you don’t cut corners. You are calm, focused, and able to stay composed even in regulated environments where inspections, audits, or oversight are part of the job. You are practical by nature and learn best by doing. Repetition and routine don’t bother you – you see them as part of building consistency and getting things right every time. You are comfortable using equipment, following technical processes, and working in PPE or RPE for extended periods when required. You can work independently once trained, taking responsibility for your tasks, but you also communicate clearly with teammates and supervisors to make sure work is completed safely and correctly. You are motivated by doing work that matters – contributing to environmental safety, compliance, and protecting public health. You value clear expectations, stability, and progression. You are interested in building a long‑term career, developing your skills step by step, and moving forward into roles such as surveyor or analyst over time.
