Research Intern Hemel Hempstead, England, United Kingdom (On-site) A leading UK leisure and hospitality business is looking for a curious, analytical and commercially aware Research Intern to join its growing Guest Insight team on a 12–13 month placement. This is an exciting opportunity for a student or undergraduate looking to gain hands-on experience within customer insight, research and commercial analytics inside a large national consumer brand. You’ll work closely with experienced insight professionals, supporting projects focused on customer experience, guest behaviour, brand perception and operational performance — helping the business better understand what customers think, want and value. If you enjoy analysing trends, solving problems, working with data and turning insights into real business recommendations, this could be a brilliant first step into a career in insight, analytics or consumer research. Key Criteria • Currently studying towards a degree and looking for a placement/internship year, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, • Comfortable working with data, trends and reports, • Good Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Organised with good attention to detail, • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, • Comfortable working independently and within a team, • Genuine interest in customer insight, consumer trends and business performance Desirable (Not essential) • Previous internship, university project or work experience involving research or analytics, • Experience using survey platforms or data tools, • Experience presenting findings or recommendations, • Interest in hospitality, leisure, retail or consumer businesses The Opportunity As a Research Intern, you’ll support the delivery of customer insight projects across multiple areas of the business, helping senior teams make informed commercial decisions through data and research. You’ll gain exposure to: • customer insight strategy, • quantitative research, • consumer behaviour analysis, • stakeholder engagement, • business reporting, • customer experience optimisation This is a fast-paced and collaborative environment where curiosity, initiative and analytical thinking are genuinely valued. What you’ll be doing Responsibilities may include: • Supporting the production of weekly and monthly insight reports and dashboards, • Assisting with customer surveys and feedback programmes, • Analysing customer and operational data to identify trends and opportunities, • Supporting the creation of presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, • Working alongside teams across operations, food & beverage, leisure and guest experience, • Helping manage survey incentives and customer engagement activity, • Supporting internal teams with reporting tools and insight platforms, • Assisting with annual benchmarking and performance analysis, • Translating data into clear, easy-to-understand commercial recommendations What we’re looking for We’re looking for somebody who is naturally curious, detail-oriented and excited by understanding customer behaviour and business performance. You might currently be studying: • Business, • Marketing, • Psychology, • Economics, • Data Analytics, • Market Research, • Hospitality Management, • Consumer Behaviour, • Mathematics, • Social Sciences, • or another related subject.
