Senior Transport Planner – Development Planning \n Location: London (Hybrid Working Available) \n Salary: Competitive + Benefits \n \n \n The Opportunity \n An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Transport Planner to join a well-established Development Planning team in London. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial, logistics, retail, education, and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East, you will play a key role in leading transport planning projects and delivering strategic advice to support successful planning applications \n .This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile development schemes, manage client relationships, contribute to business growth, and mentor junior team members within a collaborative and technically respected consultancy environment. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Lead the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments (TAs), Transport Statements (TSs), Travel Plans, Delivery & Servicing Plans, and other transport planning documents.\n, • Manage transport planning inputs for a wide range of development projects from feasibility stage through to planning determination.\n, • Undertake and oversee transport impact assessments, accessibility studies, and sustainable transport strategies.\n, • Review and interpret transport, traffic, parking, and active travel data to support planning applications.\n, • Manage junction capacity assessments and provide oversight of transport modelling exercises where required.\n, • Liaise directly with clients, local authorities, Transport for London, architects, planning consultants, and other stakeholders throughout the planning process.\n, • Lead technical discussions and negotiations with planning and highway authorities.\n, • Support planning appeals, public consultations, and stakeholder engagement activities.\n, • Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and guidance.\n, • Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.\n, • Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to their professional development.\n, • Assist with business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation.\n\n \n\n • Requirements Essential\n, • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.\n, • Significant experience within a transport planning consultancy or development planning environment.\n, • Strong understanding of the UK planning system, development planning process, and relevant transport policy.\n, • Experience leading Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications.\n, • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously.\n, • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.\n, • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.\n, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.\n\n \n Desirable \n\n • Experience working on developments across London and the South East.\n, • Knowledge of Transport for London guidance, London Plan policies, and borough-specific planning requirements.\n, • Experience using industry-standard software including TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions 10 (PICADY/ARCADY), LINSIG, GIS, and transport modelling tools.\n, • Chartered status or working towards Chartership with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or a related professional institution.\n, • Experience mentoring junior staff and managing project teams.\n\n \n Personal Attributes \n\n • Commercially aware with a client-focused approach.\n, • Strong leadership and project management skills.\n, • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.\n, • Confident communicator with experience engaging a range of stakeholders.\n, • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.\n, • Passionate about delivering sustainable transport solutions and shaping successful developments.\n\n \n Benefits \n\n • Competitive salary and annual performance reviews.\n, • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.\n, • Pension scheme.\n, • Private healthcare.\n, • Professional membership fees paid.\n, • Structured training and professional development support.\n, • Clear pathway towards Associate-level progression.\n, • Generous annual leave allowance.\n, • Employee wellbeing initiatives and regular social events.\n
