Responsible Welding Coordinator Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per year DOE Location: Worcestershire Contract: Full-time, Permanent Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:45am–5:15pm, Friday 7:45am–1:00pm We are recruiting for an experienced Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) to join an established engineering and manufacturing business operating across the Defence and other safety-critical sectors. This is a senior technical role with responsibility for welding coordination, compliance, procedure qualification, personnel competency and inspection control across safety-critical aluminium and stainless-steel fabrication. What’s on Offer • Work on challenging, high-quality, safety-critical projects, • Company pension, Life Assurance, Cycle-to-Work and Health & Wellbeing schemes, • Free on-site parking, enhanced holiday entitlement of up to 33 days and clear career development opportunities, • Early 1pm finish every Friday Key Responsibilities • Act as the organisation's welding authority in accordance with ISO 14731, providing technical leadership and oversight of welding activities., • Ensure welding operations comply with relevant Business Management Systems and standards including ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, EN (phone number removed) and DIN 2303., • Develop, qualify, maintain and control Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR) and associated documentation., • Support technical reviews, production planning and project activities from a welding perspective., • Maintain welding personnel competency matrices and ensure appropriately qualified personnel are deployed., • Coordinate pre-, interim- and post-weld inspection and testing activities., • Audit subcontractor welding capabilities where required and maintain full traceability of welding records., • Lead compliance inspections and support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Kaizen and 5S., • Develop and monitor welding and quality KPIs, investigate non-conformances and implement effective corrective actions., • Work closely with Quality and Compliance teams to maintain audit readiness and continually improve welding controls. Essential Experience & Qualifications • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Responsible Welding Coordinator or senior welding role within an engineering/fabrication environment., • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector qualification and HNC or higher in Fabrication & Welding or a related engineering discipline., • Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 14731, ISO 3834 and EN 15085, with practical experience developing and implementing welding procedures., • Strong understanding of welding quality, inspection, traceability and personnel competency requirements., • Ability to work independently, make sound technical judgements and solve complex problems., • Strong commercial awareness, strategic thinking and communication skills., • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Desirable • IWE/IWT, EWE, SFI or equivalent welding qualification, with Engineering degree-level education advantageous., • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or similar professional registration., • Lean Six Sigma qualification and experience of Planning, NPI or product lifecycle management., • Experience working to Defence, Rail or Automotive standards such as AQAP, Mil-Std, RIS or IATF.
