Overview We are partnering with a dynamic consultancy specialising in cost and contract management to recruit an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor. This full-time role is based flexibly between Cambridge and Manchester, working 40 hours per week. You will join a growing team delivering precision-driven projects for developers, contractors and private clients, supporting senior leaders while driving commercial value from pre-contract planning through to final accounts. Experience & Qualifications • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline, • Membership of RICS or CIOB, or working towards accreditation (preferred), • Demonstrable experience in both pre-contract and post-contract surveying services, • Proven track record in preparing Bills of Quantities, feasibility studies and final accounts, • Familiarity with subcontractor procurement, contract administration and payment processes Skills, Knowledge, Understanding and Learning • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse budgets and financial forecasts, • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, • Proficiency in industry-standard QS software and Microsoft Office suite, • Detail-oriented approach, capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks, • Collaborative mindset, contributing to business development and client relationship building, • Proactive drive to identify cost-control measures and maximise value recovery Main Duties • Lead cost planning and prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs), • Support final account negotiations and financial reconciliations, • Provide strategic commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle, • Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations and payment certifications, • Prepare and negotiate claims, liaising on dispute resolution when required, • Collaborate with Senior Surveyors, Regional Directors and the Board on forecasting and reporting, • Represent the consultancy in networking and business development activities Clients • Property developers requiring accurate cost forecasting and budgeting, • Main contractors seeking robust quantity assessments and contract support, • Private clients needing commercial insight on project costs, • Senior leadership teams in construction and real estate for strategic advisory services Rewards and Benefits • Competitive salary package with clear progression pathways, • Flexible working arrangements across Cambridge and Manchester offices, • Supportive, forward-thinking culture prioritising professional development, • Ongoing CPD opportunities and mentorship from senior leadership, • Team events, networking sessions and active involvement in business growth, • Access to industry-standard tools, software and resources, • Collaborative environment valuing innovation and individual contribution Salary Competitive market-rate salary for Intermediate Quantity Surveyors, reflective of experience and performance.
