SMART HOME / AV INSTALL ENGINEER £35,000 – £45,000 + Progression + High-End Residential Projects Hertfordshire Based | Projects Across London & The Home Counties About Wifiworks Wifiworks is an established smart home, networking, and AV integration company delivering high-end residential projects across London and the home counties Over the last ten years, we’ve built a strong reputation for delivering premium installations across Wi-Fi, networking, CCTV, access control, lighting control, and smart home systems. We work heavily within the UniFi ecosystem alongside Control4, Lutron, and other modern smart home technologies, with a strong focus on clean installations, reliability, and long-term client relationships. We are recognised UniFi specialists and regularly deploy advanced UniFi systems across residential and light-commercial environments, including enterprise Wi-Fi, switching, CCTV, door access, intercoms, and remote management solutions. We also maintain strong relationships with UniFi itself, alongside key UK suppliers and distributors, allowing us to stay at the forefront of new product releases and ecosystem developments. To learn more about the projects we work on and the systems we install, please visit wifiworks online. We are now looking for an experienced Smart Home / AV Installation Engineer to join our growing team. This is not an entry-level role. We are specifically looking for somebody with existing industry experience who can hit the ground running, take ownership on-site, and become a key part of the business as we continue to expand. Location Requirement (Important) Applicants must live within approximately 10 miles of St Albans or Hemel Hempstead. This is an essential requirement for the role due to the day-to-day logistics of the business, including collecting equipment and stock, coordinating with other engineers, attending our Hertfordshire base regularly, and travelling efficiently between projects across London and the Home Counties. Unfortunately, applicants based significantly outside this area will not be considered. The Role You’ll be involved across a wide range of high-end residential smart home and AV projects, working alongside a skilled and growing team on installations ranging from networking and Wi-Fi through to full smart home integration. The role will include: • First and second fix cabling • Installation of Control4 systems, including touchscreens, controllers, and keypads • Installation of Lutron lighting systems • TV, audio, and media system installations • Rack building, patching, and cable management • Installation of UniFi networking, Wi-Fi, CCTV, and access control systems • Fault finding and service visits • Assisting with commissioning and system setup • Working independently on smaller projects where required • Using laptops and software tools on-site for testing and configuration You won’t be expected to programme systems from scratch, but you should be comfortable working around integrated systems and understanding how the different technologies interact. Why This Role Is Different A huge part of where the industry is heading is converged networking, remote management, security, and ecosystem-based smart home integration — and we’ve already been heavily involved in that space for years. We are particularly invested in the UniFi ecosystem and believe it is going to become an increasingly dominant force within residential and light-commercial integration over the next few years. Our projects already combine enterprise-grade networking, Wi-Fi, CCTV, access control, and remote management into unified smart home systems. This role offers the chance to work across modern, forward-thinking projects rather than purely traditional AV installs. What We’re Looking For • Previous experience within residential AV, smart homes, or home automation • Experience with Control4 and/or Lutron systems • Good understanding of structured cabling and home networking • Experience with UniFi systems is highly desirable • Professional appearance and manner when working in high-end homes • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship • Comfortable working both independently and within a team • Good problem-solving skills and practical thinking on-site • Full UK driving licence What You’ll Get • £35,000 – £45,000 salary depending on experience • Opportunity to work on high-specification residential projects • Long-term progression opportunities within a growing company • Exposure to the latest smart home and networking technologies • Pension and holiday entitlement • Tools and equipment provided • Company van Interview Process We are planning to begin interviews in mid June although we may begin conversations with suitable candidates beforehand. If you have experience within high-end residential AV or smart home integration and are looking to join a company focused on modern integrated systems and long-term growth, we’d love to hear from you
