Health & Safety Assistant Leicester £35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits Are you a proactive Health & Safety professional looking to take the next step in your career? We’re supporting a well-established, global organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Assistant for their large integrated site in Leicester. With sustainability, continuous improvement and people development at the heart of their culture, this business is known for producing household-name products found in supermarkets nationwide. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving safety initiatives, supporting colleagues across two local sites, and contributing to a positive, proactive safety culture. No two days are the same in this fast-paced environment, and this role is fully site-based due to the nature of the operation. What you’ll be doing • Supporting the development and implementation of best practice H&S policies, procedures and regulatory compliance., • Ensuring staff receive appropriate H&S training to carry out their roles safely and effectively., • Producing reports, data and insights for the H&S Manager., • Collaborating with teams across the site to deliver proactive safety initiatives., • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external bodies on H&S matters., • Taking part in weekly production meetings to align on site priorities and targets., • Reviewing, adapting and implementing risk assessments across the operation., • Assessing machinery compliance and recommending improvements where required., • Identifying gaps in training and SSOW, ensuring corrective action is taken., • Delivering safety-related training sessions., • Providing hands-on support during internal and external audits. What you’ll need • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential), • Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and experience with ISO 45001, • Experience supporting internal and external audits, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and problem-solve, • Confident using IT systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office, • Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally with exposure to both administrative and operational environments This position would particularly suit someone who has gained H&S experience in a busy environment and is ready for a more hands-on, fast-paced operational role. Given the current workload and recent team changes, we’re looking for someone confident, motivated and able to hit the ground running.
