Customs Coordinator – Heathrow Heathrow £28,000 – £30,000 (DOE) Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:30 (1 hour lunch) Overview An established freight forwarding operation is looking to appoint a Customs Coordinator to support its growing customs function at Heathrow. This role will focus on ensuring the accurate and timely clearance of goods, working closely with internal teams, customers, and external partners to maintain compliance and operational efficiency across import, export, and cross trade activities. Key Responsibilities • Manage import, export, and cross trade customs entries accurately and within required timeframes, • Complete all customs declarations, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements, • Support the Customs Manager in delivering operational and compliance objectives, • Monitor and maintain data accuracy across all systems and documentation, • Carry out spot checks and audits on entries, providing reports as required, • Ensure correct application of duties, VAT, and invoicing processes, • Liaise with customers, internal departments, and external partners to ensure smooth shipment clearance, • Maintain strong communication with sales teams, including sharing potential leads and shipment updates, • Assist with credit control processes, including follow-up on outstanding payments, • Produce reports and ensure all deadlines are met, • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies, • Provide cover across the department during periods of absenceSkills & Experience, • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customs operations (imports/exports), • Strong understanding of UK and EU customs regulations and procedures, • Working knowledge of CDS for both import and export entries, • Experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or transport environments, • Familiarity with transit procedures and ETSF is advantageous, • Knowledge of HMRC amendments and reclaims is beneficial, • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, • Able to work independently as well as part of a team, • Flexible approach to working hours when requiredBenefits, • 20 days annual leave plus public holidays, • Pension scheme with enhanced contributions over time, • Private medical cover (subject to service), • Death in service benefit, • Access to employee discount platform, • Employee assistance programme for you and your family, • Financial advice support, • Additional holiday entitlement based on length of service
