Role: Project Manager Department: Business Transformation / PMO Location: Hybrid – office, home and client / operational sites (as required) Reporting to: Business Solutions Director Hours of work: Standard Contract type: Permanent Role Purpose The Project Manager is responsible for the controlled delivery of approved projects within the business change and solutions portfolio. The role focuses on planning, governance, control, reporting and stakeholder coordination, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within agreed scope and budget, and in line with PMO standards. The Project Manager does not own solution design; instead, the role works in close partnership with Solutions & Implementation Managers, who own solution content and implementation approach. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Control • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules and milestones., • Establish clear scope, deliverables, dependencies and critical paths., • Track progress against plan, identifying variance and corrective actions., • Manage change control in line with PMO governance. Governance, Risk & Reporting • Own project‑level risk, issue and dependency management., • Ensure projects comply with PMO standards, controls and reporting requirements., • Produce clear, accurate status reporting for governance forums and stakeholders., • Support project assurance and audit activity where required. Stakeholder Coordination • Act as the central coordination point across delivery teams and functions., • Facilitate project meetings, steering groups and reviews., • Ensure clear communication of decisions, actions and next steps., • Manage stakeholder expectations throughout delivery. Delivery Support & Integration • Work closely with Solutions & Implementation Managers to align plans and delivery activity., • Coordinate inputs from functional areas such as operations, IT, procurement, supply chain & finance., • Support mobilisation, cutover and transition planning from a governance perspective., • Ensure dependencies across projects and initiatives are visible and managed. Portfolio & PMO Contribution • Support the Business Solutions Director with portfolio‑level visibility and insight., • Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO standards and ways of working., • Share lessons learned and delivery best practice across the PM community. Skills & Experience Essential • Proven experience delivering projects in complex operational or transformation environments., • Strong project planning, tracking and control capability., • Experience working within a PMO or governed delivery framework., • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills., • Comfortable working alongside subject‑matter experts without owning solution design. Desirable • Experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, technology or business transformation., • Familiarity with structured delivery methodologies and stage‑gate governance., • Formal project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, Agile, PMP)., • Experience managing cross‑functional and third‑party delivery inputs. Decision Authority • Day‑to‑day control of project execution and reporting., • Escalation of scope, time, cost and risk issues through PMO governance., • Does not own solution design decisions. Success in Role Looks Like • Projects are delivered predictably and transparently., • Risks and issues are surfaced early, not retrospectively., • Stakeholders have confidence in delivery status and controls., • Project governance adds clarity and pace rather than bureaucracy., • The PMO is seen as an enabler of outcomes, not an administrative function.
