Reception Learning Support Worker – CardiffStart Date: SeptemberHours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pmContract: Term-time only (approx. 12 weeks off per year) We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Cardiff, supporting children within a Reception class. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early years education who is looking to make a real impact during the most important stages of a child’s development. The Role You will be working closely with the class teacher to support pupils aged 4–5, helping to create a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment. The role will involve both general classroom support and working 1:1 or in small groups with children who may need additional guidance. Key Responsibilities • Supporting children with early learning skills including phonics, reading, and basic numeracy, • Assisting with classroom activities through play-based learning, • Providing 1:1 support where required, including children with additional learning needs, • Encouraging positive behaviour and social development, • Supporting the teacher with classroom preparation and daily routines, • Ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils at all timesRequirements, • Experience working with children (school, nursery, childcare, or similar), • Strong understanding of Early Years/Foundation Phase learning, • A patient, caring, and proactive approach, • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, • A genuine passion for supporting children’s developmentDesirable (but not essential), • Experience working with SEN/ALN, • Relevant qualifications in childcare or education, • Knowledge of phonics programmes and early learning strategiesWhat’s on Offer, • Consistent Monday–Friday hours, • Term-time only role with approximately 12 weeks off per year, • Supportive and welcoming school environment, • Opportunity to gain valuable experience within Early Years education
