Freedom is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager / Project Manager to lead the charge in delivering substation renewal and remedial works across the Northern Powergrid network. This pivotal role is all about ensuring the safe, efficient, and commercially successful delivery of projects from start to finish. \n In collaboration with Northern Powergrid and our internal teams, you will manage a diverse portfolio of projects that are essential for maintaining, upgrading, and enhancing the resilience of critical electricity infrastructure. Your Key Responsibilities\n\n • Lead the delivery of substation renewal and remedial projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.\n, • Assess and develop allocated sites, coordinating surveys, condition assessments, and feasibility studies.\n, • Develop and manage project delivery programmes, effectively planning and allocating resources.\n, • Prepare and oversee project estimates, cost forecasts, and financial reporting.\n, • Manage commercial performance, identifying risks and opportunities to maximize value.\n, • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including SAPs, engineers, designers, civil teams, jointers, and fitters.\n, • Ensure compliance with all Freedom, client, statutory, and regulatory requirements.\n, • Oversee project documentation, risk assessments, method statements, and permit systems.\n, • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed.\n, • Build and maintain strong relationships with Northern Powergrid and key stakeholders.\n, • Provide regular reporting on programme, performance, commercial position, and project risks.\n, • Drive a positive safety culture and promote continuous improvement across all activities.\nWhat We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications:\n\n, • Proven project management experience within utilities, power distribution, or infrastructure environments.\n, • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems, particularly within substations.\n, • Experience working under NRSWA/Street Works requirements.\n, • Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple concurrent projects.\n, • Strong commercial awareness, including estimating, forecasting, and cost management.\n, • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.\n, • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities.\n, • Proven track record of delivering projects safely within construction or utility environments.\n, • Full UK Driving Licence.\nDesirable Qualifications:\n\n, • Experience working on Northern Powergrid contracts or networks.\n, • Project Management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2).\n, • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.\n, • SAP authorisation or experience working closely with authorized personnel.\nWhy Join Us?\n At Freedom, we believe in evolving our benefits to attract and retain the best talent.
