Role Overview The Head Groundsperson will be responsible for the maintenance, improvement, and presentation of all playing surfaces across multiple facilities. This role leads a grounds team to deliver high-quality pitches to professional standards. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and remediation of all pitches across stadium and training facilities to professional standards., • Ensure all surrounding landscaped and external areas are safe, clean, and well maintained., • Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and accurate record-keeping of all machinery in line with Health & Safety legislation., • Manage procurement, stock control, and the cost-effective use of materials, equipment, and external services., • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and consultants to improve pitch quality, working practices, and staff development., • Plan and oversee close-season remediation, construction, and resurfacing works., • Provide guidance on facility usage to maintain surface quality and maximise operational efficiency., • Maintain management information and reporting relating to staff, equipment, and materials., • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including Health & Safety, COSHH, and environmental regulations, completing regular risk assessments., • Lead, motivate, manage, and appraise grounds staff in line with company policy and performance standards. About You You are an experienced grounds professional with a proven track record of delivering playing surfaces to a elite professional standard. You bring strong technical knowledge of sports turf management alongside the leadership skills required to manage teams, budgets, and operational demands. You will ideally have: • NVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf Management or an equivalent professional qualification., • Proven experience maintaining professional sports pitches to a high standard., • PA1, PA2A and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable)., • Excellent organisational and communication skills and a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
