Job Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medical Surgical provides direct patient care in an acute care hospital setting while working collaboratively under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role requires strong foundational nursing skills, the ability to manage a patient assignment, and experience delivering safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced Med Surg and Telemetry environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working night shifts. Roles & Responsibilities • Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients under RN supervision, • Perform and document vital signs, pain assessments, intake/output, and blood glucose monitoring, • Administer medications via oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, and topical routes in accordance with scope of practice, • Provide IV therapy using infusion pumps as appropriate, • Perform Foley catheter insertion (male and female) and manage urinary catheters, • Assist with feeding tube care and management, • Perform basic wound care, including simple dressings and drain care (JP/Hemovac), • Monitor telemetry, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and report abnormal findings, • Implement isolation precautions and assist with physical restraints per policy, • Communicate patient status changes promptly to RN and physician, • Support patient hygiene, bathing, and oral care, • Float to other units within skillset as neededScheduling & Unit Details, • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, • Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed, • Charting System: EPIC (experience required), • Call-Off Policy: Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty, • RTO/Block Scheduling: Must be submitted at time of submission, • First-Time Travelers: Accepted, • Locals: Accepted (LPNs only; NY is non-compact)Requirements & Experience, • Active New York State LPN license (single state; pending licenses not accepted), • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required, • Minimum acute care experience within the last 2 years, • Ability to manage an independent patient assignment with RN support Guided by our core values; Results, Approachability, Care, and Emergency (RACE), we foster an environment where you can grow professionally, build meaningful relationships, and deliver outstanding patient care.
