Description We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Los Angeles, California. This role is essential in ensuring accurate payroll processing and financial reporting for a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in payroll systems, accounting principles, and compliance, with a particular focus on ADP Workforce Now. * Process semi-monthly payroll for over 500 employees, including tasks such as manual paycheck calculations, accrual tracking, and garnishment processing. * Record payroll-related transactions in the general ledger and ensure accurate labor distribution. * Audit and review employee timecards for compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements. * Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and benefit premium payments, including those for employees on leave. * Maintain and update payroll schedules and supporting documentation using Excel. * Ensure employee benefits are accurately reconciled against vendor invoices in ADP Workforce Now. * Perform system maintenance and updates within ADP Workforce Now and associated Time & Attendance modules. * Train supervisors on timekeeping systems and payroll policies to ensure consistent compliance. * Collaborate with Human Resources to address and resolve payroll-related employee concerns. * Support additional payroll and accounting functions as needed to maintain operational efficiency. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounting and payroll, including cost allocation. * Practical expertise with ADP Workforce Now and electronic timekeeping systems. * Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and garnishment laws. * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications. * Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. * Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent work experience will be considered. * Experience with payroll report writing and data analysis is a plus.
