We are a sleepaway camp located on 560 serene acres in Northeastern, PA and have campers ages 7-17. We are looking for a driver to join our team from June 17 – August 17, 2026, and live on-site at our camp in the Pocono Mountains! There is some flexibility in the start date for full-time school workers. Our driver will mostly be driving staff to local spots on their off day. You might also be asked to drive campers to local doctor appointments and run errands for the camp while you are out. This position does not require a CDL license, as you will only be driving a 15-person passenger van. Camp activities include swimming, boating, fishing, arts & crafts, sports & games, archery, nature, hiking, rock climbing, and challenge/low ropes course. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Be identifiable with YMCA Lifeguard shirt, whistle, swimsuit and has the rescue tube with them. The Rescue tube must be properly worn, with the strap on the shoulder and holding it in front of the body. Actively apply and enforce all pool rules and proactively address members to maintain a safe environment. Knows, understands, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintain constant surveillance of the designated swimming area. Job Description Title: Group Leader Reports To: Program Director, Truman Beacon Location: 750 Baychester Ave, Bronx, NY 10475 Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt; Schedule: School Year / September - June / Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm Salary: $18.00 – $19.00/hourly Job Summary: The After School Group Leader is responsible for the overall safety, development, management, organization and planning of their group. This includes integrated educational projects, recreation, arts and crafts and group building activities. Major Duties: * Overall supervision and management of identified group of participants. * Engage participants in after school activities and role model appropriate behavior. * Ensure safety of participants at all times. * As needed, engage in outreach activities to ensure attendance and participation. * Provide support to activity instructors and other group leaders. * Develop and facilitate a sequenced and thematic curriculum and other various activities including arts & crafts. Curriculum should promote creativity, self-expression, opportunity for mastery, and emotional growth and future focus/career exploration as well as professional growth. * Integrate lessons enriched with literacy, history and other related academic subjects when applicable. * Develop positive relationships with participants, colleagues and school/center personnel. * Attends all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified (including Saturday and evening trainings). * Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model. * Plan and prepare culminating events for participants to showcase their activities. * Ensure participants are prepared and able to illustrate what they learned in culminating events. * Assist with organizing parent family culminating engagement events. * Engage with parents and guardians as necessary in a professional manner. * Discuss behavior problems , safety concerns and situations with supervisor as they emerge, and completing necessary documentation and paperwork. * Mandated Reporter. * Resolve conflict within your group while seeking assistance from other staff, supervisors and directors when necessary. * Foster a positive youth development approach focusing on , strength’s-based environment, fostering a sense of belonging, independence, generosity, mastery safety, and community to participants. * Supervise support staff assigned to your group (including but not limited to assistant group leader, interns, volunteers, etc.). * Track and support participant’s development and growth areas. Engage and facilitate group conversations, tracking and supporting students’ participant’s academic success. * Responsible for the safe arrival and dismissal of all program participants. * Demonstrate effective classroom management skills. * Inspect all facilities, equipment, and supplies and be sure all are locked away securely at the end of each day. * Available to work during holidays and OST days (13-15 days). * Maintain all required records for your group, including attendance.. * Maintain strict adherence to policies and procedures at all times. * Participate in afterschool events and trips. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Must be at least 18 years old. * High School/ GED Diploma and 1 year related experience in leading and participating in youth group development related activities required. * Experience building a camp culture through chants, team building activities, and community building preferred. * Can contribute a talent or experience in arts, music, crafts, etc. a plus. * A commitment to working with youth from a variety of backgrounds, while providing high quality services. * Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.
