Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description The Mechanical Assembler performs precision mechanical assembly and maintenance on large generators in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses a wide range of hand and power tools, follows detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures, and supports troubleshooting by learning manufacturer-specific software to diagnose engine and control system issues. The position requires careful attention to detail, safe operation of overhead cranes, and consistent adherence to quality and safety standards. Responsibilities • Perform mechanical assembly on large generators according to work instructions and standard operating procedures., • Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently during assembly and repair activities., • Operate overhead cranes to move, position, and secure large components as part of the assembly process., • Read and interpret work instructions, SOPs, and basic blueprints or engineering drawings to complete assigned tasks., • Perform maintenance and repair work on generators, including disassembly, inspection, replacement of parts, and reassembly., • Learn and use manufacturer-specific software to help diagnose engine and control system problems., • Measure and verify parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, equipment, and overhead lifting devices., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly store tools and equipment after use., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly issues and support continuous improvement in processes. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar hands-on environment., • At least 1 year of experience operating an overhead crane., • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for assembly and repair work., • Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, or basic blueprints., • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches to complete precise assembly tasks., • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with large industrial equipment., • Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions consistently and accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience using precision measuring devices such as micrometers, scales, pressure gauges, torque wrenches, and measuring tapes., • Familiarity with basic electrical measuring instruments such as electric meters for volts, ohms, and amps., • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints or detailed engineering drawings., • Experienced in automotive technology, diesel technology, motor assembly, HVAC, or a similar mechanical trade., • Comfort learning and using manufacturer-specific diagnostic software for engines and control systems., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work., • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment. Work Environment This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on the assembly and maintenance of large generators. Team members work with a variety of hand and power tools, overhead cranes, measuring instruments, and diagnostic software in a structured production setting. The position operates on either 1st shift (5:00 AM – 2:30 PM) or 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 12:30 AM), with consistent hours and a focus on safety, quality, and collaboration on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
