Job Description Job Title: Master Technician PAY: $45-$54 Job Description This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electric, hybrid, and conventional vehicles to the highest technical and safety standards. The Master Technician performs complex mechanical and electrical work, leads and mentors other technicians, and ensures all repairs meet manufacturer and company requirements. The position requires strong expertise with electric vehicles, advanced diagnostic tools, and a commitment to accurate documentation and customer-facing professionalism. Responsibilities • Diagnose and repair electric, hybrid, and conventional vehicles using schematics, diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer procedures., • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with a high level of efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to company and manufacturer standards., • Identify the root cause of malfunctions and complete all necessary repairs, ensuring vehicle safety and reliability., • Communicate with the parts department to request, track, and obtain required parts for repairs., • Save and tag parts from jobs when work is covered under warranty or when requested by the technical team., • Inspect assigned vehicles thoroughly to determine whether additional safety or service work is required or recommended., • Inform the shop foreman promptly if additional work is needed, if work listed on the repair order is not required, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time frame., • Document all work performed and all recommended services clearly and completely on the work order., • Conduct road tests when necessary to verify repairs, or coordinate with the shop foreman to complete required test drives., • Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins and recall information related to electric, hybrid, and conventional vehicles., • Supervise the work of other technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to support their development., • Train newer technicians on maintenance processes, repair protocols, and safety procedures., • Maintain accountability for all company-owned tools, equipment, and manuals, ensuring they are returned to their proper location and kept in good condition., • Interact professionally with customers when needed, representing the service operation in a presentable and customer-focused manner. Essential Skills • Electric Vehicle (EV) certification from ASE or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)., • At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with electric vehicles, including EV maintenance, electrical systems, and related components., • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or automotive technician., • Master-level technician experience with advanced diagnostic and repair capabilities., • At least 4 ASE certifications, with a commitment and ability to obtain remaining ASE certifications within 1 year if required., • Strong knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, including electrical circuits, fuses, and high-voltage components., • Proficiency with automotive diagnostic equipment, schematics, and technical documentation., • Experience training and mentoring newer technicians on maintenance processes and protocols., • Ability to communicate clearly with shop leadership, parts personnel, and customers., • Professional, presentable demeanor suitable for customer-facing interactions., • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with attention to detail., • Capability to work efficiently in a high-coverage service environment, including different shifts and weekend schedules. Additional Skills & Qualifications • ASE Certified Mechanic status with multiple ASE certifications beyond the minimum requirement., • Experience working as a master technician in a high-volume service shop environment., • Familiarity with manufacturer technical bulletins, recall processes, and warranty-related documentation., • Experience supervising teams of technicians and coordinating workflow in a service center., • Comfort using digital tools and systems for work orders, documentation, and parts requests., • Willingness to travel when needed, including coordination with flights, lodging, and expense reporting., • Strong organizational skills for managing tools, manuals, and repair documentation.Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
