Single-family office · Dallas, Old Parkland · Full-time, in-office · Through 2026 (possibly permanent) We are a Dallas-based single-family office hiring an associate to support a migration of selected functions to a boutique wealth management partner and to work alongside the head of the office on broader operations. The work spans drafting, organizing, and executing on the substance of what a small family office does day to day across investments, entities, foundations, trusts, tax, and personal matters. About the office We support several households, family trusts, private foundations, and a diversified set of private investments. The office is small: the head of the office, a lawyer and CPA who has worked with the family for two decades, plus two members of the family, an executive assistant, an investment analyst, and an accountant. You would work directly with the head of the office and alongside the rest of the team. The family's culture matters to us, and the people are good. Before applying, please read 2m.com, particularly the Join page. The values described there, including our no-assholes policy, are not slogans. We will hire on fit as much as on resume. What the work looks like Responsibilities will vary with the week, the phase of the migration, and your demonstrated abilities. Recent and near-term examples include: • Reviewing and organizing the office's document folders across our domains of responsibility (legal entities, investments, trusts, personal assets) to identify inconsistencies, gaps, duplicates, and stale documentation, and renaming files using a consistent methodology., • Drafting updated LLC operating agreements, in part by helping us build out the form templates they will be based on., • Amending state certificates of formation to reflect changes in management and office location., • Identifying recurring tasks across tax and state compliance, insurance, accounting, and investment management, and scheduling them in the project management system., • Helping develop a firmwide responsibility matrix and then working with the staff to fill in the details., • Investigating AI workflows that can take routine work off the office's plate. You will be given increasing responsibility as you demonstrate good judgment. Who we're looking for The work is unforgiving of carelessness. Legal documents must be precise. Files must be named and organized so that someone other than you can find them a year from now. Data rooms must be built to withstand scrutiny by professionals on the other side. We are looking for someone with demonstrated excellence in detail-oriented work: the kind of person who naturally cares about this sort of order and finds satisfaction in producing work that holds up. You should bring: • exceptional organizational instincts, • excellent verbal and written communication, • comfort with our tool stack (Box for document management, Basecamp for project management, Notion, and Claude as our AI assistant), and the ability to pick up new tools as needed, • a process mindset; we will rely on you to spot opportunities to make how the office works better, • high discretion and mature judgment; you will be inside confidential family, financial, and personal information from day one The strongest candidates will have demonstrated experience with, or a serious interest in, transactional and administrative legal documents. That often comes from a paralegal background or from formal legal training: a recent law graduate who has decided not to practice, someone preparing to apply or matriculate to law school, or a current 1L without a summer placement. We are equally open to candidates outside those profiles who can show real work in this area. Why this role is worth taking Compensation is market-competitive and includes performance bonus eligibility. The reason to take the role, though, is what sits on top of the paycheck: • A small-office seat at the table. You will see, and contribute to, how legal, tax, accounting, and investment decisions fit together inside one family's complete picture. Breadth like this is unusual at any career stage and rare at this one., • Direct mentorship from a JD/CPA who has worked with this family for two decades. Few faster ways to learn how this work fits together., • A reference that counts. If you do the work well, you will leave with a credible recommendation from a JD/CPA who has watched your judgment up close. That carries weight when you apply to law school, your next family office role, or anywhere precision with documents matters. Logistics • Location: Dallas, at our office in Old Parkland. In-office daily., • Hours: Standard 9-to-5 workweek., • Start date: As soon as the right candidate can begin. We expect to know by year-end whether the position continues, possibly much earlier if the picture becomes clear before then. If it does, we will make the call rather than wait., • Summer-only path: Available for an exceptional 1L or other current student, June through August, with no significant time away during those months., • Compensation: Market-competitive base with performance bonus eligibility.
