ROLE OVERVIEW The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in supporting mining operations by planning and scheduling short-to-medium term maintenance for mobile equipment. Working in alignment with OEM specifications, this role is focused on improving equipment availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and ensuring all maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Planning & Scheduling • Produce, review and maintain rolling monthly, quarterly and annual plans as well as equipment specifications, tires and undercarriage tracking files, • Maintain currency and accuracy of equipment maintenance history, work orders, job records database and technical information on processes, plant and equipment, • Identify potential work using an effective condition monitoring program and financial package-based work programs and provide guidance and support to the project teams, • Develop weekly agreed maintenance plans using equipment strategies to facilitate maximum production and minimize downtime and costs to meet plant availability and reliability targets, • Align other maintenance activities such as defects and breakdown repairs with periodic maintenance and provide updates on a weekly basis, • Ensure that work planned is completed within the allowed budget and resources by cost effective use of resources to maintain and service infrastructure, • Assist with the procurement and freight of parts and services and ensure full reliability of parts and equipment is retained while stored, only using approved suppliers and hire equipment, • Maintain accurate and effective costing reporting as well as support documentation and ensure all completed work orders are closed out, • Effectively use the company's financial package to produce, review and maintain equipment lists and contracts and raise work orders for all maintenance activities, • Coordinate warranty claims and ensure warranty forms are lodged with OEMs for components and repairs using approved warranty processes and site documentation, • Utilize predictive maintenance processes to raise re-work requests and organize any additional maintenance requirements, • Ensure all materials, parts, personnel, tools, permits and equipment is available for execution when required by the plan, • Review and audit mechanical repairs and services to ensure compliance with site maintenance schemes, • Review and report on planning and scheduling, equipment reliability and maintenance department performance, • Assist in the implementation and compliance of HSE plans to ensure safe and sustainable mobile plant and ancillary equipment, • Provide expert advice in all incident investigations to ensure the root causes are identified and that all the required documentation is reported. If applicable, play an active role in implementing corrective actions in consultation with relevant parties, • Liaise with all internal stakeholders to enhance coordination between the maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups and minimize interruptions to operations by maintaining strong working relationships with relevant personnel, • Communicate detailed maintenance plans for scheduled maintenance to maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups on a weekly basis, • Coordinate with the offsite maintenance planners to ensure the best business outcomes are achieved, • Promote prosperous healthy client relationships to network and identify new business opportunities, • Minimum of 3 years' planning experience in mobile equipment planning, mining maintenance activities and/or equivalent industrial, • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mobile maintenance equipment (haul trucks, excavators, drillers, support equipment), • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on mobile assets, • Surface mining experience, • Expertise in predictive and preventative maintenance techniques, • Experience with resource allocation and optimizing maintenance workforce efficiency, • Familiar with Office 365, including strong Excel skills and MS Project skills, • SAP software experience required, • Use of Cat SIS and other OEM parts manuals, • Strong written and oral communication skills, • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while being self-motivated and proactive, • Ability to analyze equipment and processing performance data to identify trends and improvement areas, • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, • Valid US Driver's License, • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess, • Must be fluent in the English language PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Work involves walking, standing, and climbing stairs or ladders to access field areas, equipment, and offices throughout the site, • May occasionally require bending, kneeling, or reaching to collect samples, perform inspections, or access workspaces, • Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle or working at a computer, • Must maintain sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to operate vehicles and safely navigate active mining or construction environments, • Work is conducted in both office and outdoor site environments, with potential exposure to noise, dust, vibration, heat, cold, and uneven terrain, • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility clothing when in designated areas, • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, • Training and/or experience in maintenance management and/or maintenance planning processes preferred, • Culture: Work within a values-driven organization that prioritizes safety, discovery, accountability, respect, and empowerment, • Allowances: Site allowances, including accommodation, meals, and travel considerations, • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and participation in 401k plan with company matching.
