Requirements We’re seeking a skilled, experienced Senior Structural Engineer to evaluate existing structures and develop practical, creative solutions for a variety of clients. Projects span residential, commercial, and multi-family buildings and may include damage assessments (fire, wind, flood, impact), repair and restoration design, adaptive reuse of historic structures, and renovations to support new uses or equipment. Opportunities may also include structural design for new commercial, retail, industrial, and hospitality developments. What You’ll Do • Prepare as-built drawings from existing buildings., • Evaluate performance and integrity of structural systems in damaged and aging buildings., • Develop drawings and specifications in accordance with applicable building codes and industry standards., • Research historical and current building codes and identify required upgrades., • Conduct field assessments (including ladders, lifts, scaffolds, confined spaces, and rooftops, as needed)., • Lead investigations and condition assessments to determine appropriate repairs for damaged or poorly performing structural systems., • Complete design assignments related to upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of existing buildings., • Prepare concise, technically sound reports and documentation supporting findings and recommendations., • Lead project delivery for maintenance, upgrade, and restoration efforts; mentor junior staff as needed.Required Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum)., • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing, or ability to obtain within one (1) month via comity after hire., • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience., • Strong knowledge of structural systems across residential and commercial buildings., • Ability to perform load calculations, material selection, and structural analysis., • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills., • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines., • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Required Skills, • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with BIM is a plus., • Experience preparing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and supporting construction administration., • Client-facing experience including technical reviews, presenting findings, and supporting proposal development.Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel, • Physical demands: Standard (field work may require climbing, accessing confined spaces, and working on rooftops)., • Overtime: Standard, as needed to meet project deadlines., • Travel: Approximately 25% overnight travel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, AND TRAVEL Physical Demands – Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. Overtime – This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
