\n\nJob Title: Filler Operator \nLocation: Syracuse, NY \nDepartment: Production \nJob Type: Full-Time | 12-hour Shifts | [Day 6am-6:30pm -or- Night 6pm-6:30am Shifts operate on a two week rotation.\nInitial training will take place during day shifts to ensure proper onboarding and support.\n\n\n\nGeneral Description \n \nThe Filler Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality products. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, cleaning, and troubleshooting filling equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. \n \nThe Filler Operator supports production goals by maintaining equipment performance, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.\n\n\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n\n\t • Operate assigned filling equipment, including setup, pre-start, startup, operation, shutdown, and cleaning per established SOPs.\n\t, • Achieve production, safety, quality, and cost objectives.\n\t, • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in accordance with established procedures.\n\t, • Notify maintenance or supervisors of mechanical malfunctions and assist with problem resolution.\n\t, • Perform Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) processes, including monitoring chemical inputs, temperature, and time controls.\n\t, • Maintain production schedules, meet order expectations, and support waste reduction initiatives.\n\t, • Clear jam-ups and restore production line operations promptly.\n\t, • Ensure compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and all plant policies and regulations.\n\t, • Conduct ongoing product quality control checks.\n\t, • Support other areas of production as assigned and cross-train in multiple operational areas.\n\t, • Assist in training new operators and serve as backup during absences.\n\t, • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in all work areas.\n\t, • Communicate effectively between shifts and across departments.\n\t, • Follow all food safety, SQF, and workplace safety requirements, reporting issues promptly.\n\n\n\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\n\n\t, • Basic to advanced mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights, and measures).\n\t, • Ability to understand and respond appropriately to employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.\n\t, • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English (bilingual skills are a plus).\n\t, • Familiarity with company mission, goals, and production processes.\n\t, • Competence in operating facility equipment and completing required training programs.\n\t, • Ability to interpret company documentation and product coding systems.\n\n\n\n\nEducation and Experience\n\n\n\t, • High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience).\n\t, • Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience highly preferred.\n\n\n\n\nPerformance Standards\n\n\n\t, • Maintain punctuality and communicate absences in advance.\n\t, • Report to work in a condition fit for duty.\n\t, • Adhere to grooming and GMP dress code requirements.\n\t, • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and performance expectations.\n\t, • Complete assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner.\n\n\n\n\nWork Schedule\n\n\n\t, • Availability for morning, afternoon, or overnight shifts any day of the week.\n\t, • Typical schedule: 36–48 hours per week (12-hour shifts)\n\t, • Requests for time off must be submitted in advance for approval.\n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental Conditions\n\n\n\t, • Work performed primarily indoors, with exposure to hot, cold, wet, and humid conditions.\n\t, • Potential exposure to food ingredients (including allergens) and cleaning chemicals used in food processing.\n\n\n\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\n\n\t, • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including production and warehouse spaces.\n\t, • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).\n\t, • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, and balance for the duration of the shift.\n\t, • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently (and more with assistance).\n\t Get a complete career fit with Kelly®.
