Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC Maintenance Technician Job Description The CNC Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs CNC machinery to minimize downtime and ensure reliable production operations. This role focuses on quickly and accurately troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, fabricating repair parts when needed, and supporting a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Control equipment downtime by effectively troubleshooting and diagnosing maintenance-related problems on CNC machinery, including mills and lathes., • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on CNC equipment, with a focus on Okuma, Haas, and other CNC machinery., • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation, tools, and equipment to restore equipment to proper operating condition., • Conduct preventive maintenance on CNC machines to reduce unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment life., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to identify issues and determine appropriate repair methods., • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and maintain accurate equipment records., • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Machining Engineer to maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking inventory levels, anticipating needs, and placing or expediting orders., • Perform PLC troubleshooting as needed to diagnose control-related issues on CNC machinery., • Carry out simple fabrication and welding tasks to support equipment repair and modification., • Work proactively to keep the work area safe, organized, and clean, following all safety guidelines and best practices., • Support production teams by responding promptly to maintenance requests and communicating equipment status clearly., • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and shop efficiency.Essential Skills, • At least 5 years of experience as a CNC Maintenance Technician working with mills and lathes., • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for complex CNC machinery., • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with schematics and control systems., • Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in industrial equipment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately., • Experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC machines such as Haas, Okuma, and similar equipment., • Proficiency in using machine shop instrumentation and equipment for repair and fabrication tasks., • Ability to use CMMS software to manage maintenance activities and records., • Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve control-related issues., • Demonstrated ability to work safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience performing simple fabrication and welding to support equipment repairs., • Background in servicing and repairing a variety of CNC machinery in a production environment., • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with changing priorities., • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams., • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and inventory management.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing shop environment on a first shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility and the potential for overtime as needed to support production demands. The work takes place in a machine shop where CNC mills and lathes are in operation, and the temperature can become hot during the summer months. You will work around industrial equipment, tools, and instrumentation, using CMMS software and standard maintenance tools in a hands-on, production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batavia, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
