Job Description Miccosukee Indian School is seeking a highly qualified, dynamic and student-centered Physical Education Teacher to join our team. This educator will serve students in grades K–12 and play a vital role in fostering lifelong wellness, physical literacy, and social-emotional growth. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate PE curriculum aligned with national and state standards, • Promote physical literacy, health awareness, and lifelong fitness habits across all grade levels, • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds, • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages participation and personal growth, • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative methods, • Integrate social-emotional learning, teamwork, and leadership development into daily instruction, • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community members to support student success, • Organize and support school-wide wellness initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities, • Model and reinforce positive behavior, respect, and empathy among students, • Maintain equipment, facilities, and safety protocols in accordance with school policies Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field, • Valid Florida teaching certification (or eligibility) in Physical Education (K–12), • Experience teaching PE across multiple grade levels preferred, • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Knowledge & Professional Expertise • Strong understanding of national PE standards (e.g., SHAPE America standards) and best practices in physical education, • Knowledge of age-appropriate motor skill development, fitness principles, and health education, • Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices, particularly in Native or diverse communities, • Experience integrating social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices, • Understanding of inclusive/adaptive PE strategies for students with varying abilities Skills (Hard & Soft) Instructional & Technical Skills: • Curriculum planning and standards-based instruction, • Student assessment and data-informed decision making, • Classroom and behavior management, • Use of technology to enhance instruction and engagement Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, • Ability to motivate and inspire students of all ages, • Collaboration and teamwork with staff and community, • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, • Organizational and time-management skills Personal Attributes • Passion for educating and supporting the whole child, • Commitment to fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and respect, • Ability to build meaningful, trusting relationships with students and families, • Positive, energetic, and adaptable mindset, • Cultural humility and a willingness to learn from and honor the community served, • High level of professionalism, integrity, and reliability Our School Culture At Miccosukee Indian School, we believe education extends beyond academics.
