Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled, organized, and dependable Lead Fabricator to own the execution of fast-paced, creative projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Technical Designers, Production Managers, Department Heads, and reports to the Production Director. Lead Fabricators translate project requirements into efficient, high-quality fabrication outcomes while continuing to contribute directly to fabrication. Ownership of production workflows, team direction, and execution is central to this role. Strong production expertise, leadership, creative problem-solving, and clear communication are essential to delivering projects on time and to a high standard. The ideal candidate is resourceful, eager to learn, and thrives in an environment where priorities can shift quickly, with the intent of delivering exceptional results. Salary Range: $35 - $45 / hour (Dependent on experience) -Lead the fabrication and assembly of assigned projects, from production planning through installation and strike. -Plan production workflows and allocate labor effectively, assigning tasks based on skill level, schedule, and priorities while setting fabrication standards aligned with client expectations. -Develop and maintain clear, project documentation to support production – including schedules, timelines, QC checklists. -Remain actively involved in fabrication, guiding teams through complex builds, critical details, and tight timelines. -Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Technical Designers, Production Managers, and Department Heads to align fabrication approaches with project requirements, schedule, and shop capabilities. -Support Project Managers and Production Managers with material and hardware selection during estimating, prototyping, and production planning, advising on fabrication methods, tolerances, and build details. -Maintain accountability for quality and craft, ensuring work meets design, structural, safety, and quality standards. -Proactively identify risks, inefficiencies, or bottlenecks and communicate them clearly to project teams and leadership. -Prepare and maintain accurate tools, hardware, equipment, and material lists for installations and strikes, ensuring crews are properly equipped before leaving the shop. -Participate in site surveys and walkthroughs to assess access, conditions, and production considerations. -Contribute to on-site installations and strikes through planning and execution – including staffing, sequencing, staging, rigging coordination, site protection, storage, and reuse. -Oversee packing, crating, labeling, and preparation of completed work to ensure safe handling and shipping. -Collaborate across departments and take on tasks as needed to support production and overall shop capacity. -Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are handled properly. -Contribute across projects and disciplines to support shop capacity and expand shop capabilities. -Contribute to production workflow improvements and future planning through collaboration with leadership. -Mentor and support Fabricators through clear direction and feedback, reinforcing standards and skill development. Requirements -High school diploma or equivalent; background in the arts preferred. -4+ years of fabrication experience in fast-paced creative production workshops. -Demonstrated experience leading fabrication teams of varying skill levels. -Advanced working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, machinery, and shop safety practices. -Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from shop and architectural drawings. -Solid understanding of materials, hardware, and production methods across multiple disciplines. -Proven ability to plan production, anticipate challenges, and adjust workflows to meet project schedules and expectations. -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. -Highly organized, detail-oriented, and punctual, with strong time management and multitasking abilities. -Maintains a calm, professional, solution-driven attitude in high-pressure environments. -Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a strong sense of accountability. -Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, or access platforms. -Ability to lift 50+ lbs and remain standing for extended periods. -Must be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work occasional extended hours, including overnight, and weekends, when necessary. -Willingness to travel outside the NY metro area, including flights and overnight stays.
