Function The Custodial Associate at New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across NKCDC facilities. This position supports the organization’s daily operations by performing routine and detailed cleaning tasks in offices, common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces. The Custodial Associate ensures that all areas meet health and safety standards, assists in maintaining supplies and equipment, and helps create a professional and comfortable workspace for staff, partners, and visitors. The Custodial Associate contributes directly to NKCDC’s mission by upholding the cleanliness and care of the physical spaces where the organization’s community work takes place. Funding This position is funded by 100% by Rental Revenues. Reports to Real Estate and Residence Service Manager Direct Reports N/A Responsibilities Daily Responsibilities • Clean and restock six restrooms (back hallway, reception, community room, and hub): refill toilet paper, paper towels, soap, wipes, and sprays; sanitize high-touch surfaces including door knobs, faucet handles, toilet flushers, and soap dispensers; tidy and remove trash; clean mirrors., • Clean and Maintain two kitchens (office lunchroom and community room): wipe counters and tables, clean sinks, load/unload dishwasher, manage drying racks, take out trash and replace liners., • Clean hallways and common areas., • Inspect all offices, reception areas, and community spaces; empty trash and recycling bins, tidy surfaces, and ensure entry areas are sanitized and welcoming., • Break down boxes and remove recyclables from the back stair tower, transporting items to appropriate bins., • Tuesdays & Thursdays: Deep clean restrooms scrub toilets, sinks, and surrounding walls; sanitize dispensers and grab bars., • Wednesdays: Sweep and mop back stair tower from exterior door to NKCDC office., • Fridays: Clean out refrigerators and freezers (office and community room), dispose of expired food, and sanitize fridge and microwave interiors/exteriors., • Spot clean floor spills, wipe down chairs, and sanitize the inside of trash bins., • Use carpet scrubber on stains as needed; vacuum office carpets monthly., • Check and clean the shower room as required., • Run the self-clean cycle on the Community Room stove when needed (remove racks and wipe surfaces). Compensation The rate for this position will be $25.11/HR with a part-time schedule, 15 hours per week. To counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, we use a nonnegotiable starting salary system, while benchmarking our pay to competitive markets in the nonprofit sector. Work hours are from 9am-5pm. This position will be on-site at our central office, 2771 Ruth Street, Suite 1, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
