SUMMARYThe Consulting Psychiatrist (MD/DO) or Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) will provide psychiatric consultation, evaluation, and treatment recommendations for clients engaged in behavioral health services. This role supports an interdisciplinary team of mental health professionals, ensuring integrated and collaborative care. The consultant will not carry a caseload but will focus on diagnostic clarification, psychopharmacology consultation, and guidance on complex clinical presentations. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES A representative summary of tasks to be performed is provided below. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of Jewish Family Services. -Offer consultation regarding psychopharmacological treatment options, including medication initiation, monitoring, and adjustments. -Collaborate with licensed prescribers and mental health clinicians (LCSWs, LMHCs, LCSW-Rs) to develop and refine individualized treatment plans. -Provide education and guidance to staff regarding psychiatric symptoms, medication management, and evidence-based practices. -Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical reviews as needed. -Ensure documentation of consultations and recommendations in compliance with agency, county, and state regulations. -Maintain professional licensure and continuing education in accordance with applicable regulations. QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: • MD, DO, or PA in Psychiatry; board-certified (for MD/DO) or certified/licensed (for PA)., • Valid state medical license and DEA registration, • Demonstrated expertise in adult and/or child/adolescent psychiatry (specify based on setting)., • Experience in outpatient, inpatient, or consultation-liaison settings preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team., • Exhibited ability to effectively work within an inclusive and culturally and linguistically diverse environment., • Strong computer skills, especially with electronic medical records, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based health information systems. (B’Tselem Elohim) WORKING CONDITIONS • Will work remotely with the occasional in-office days for meetings., • Must have access to a reliable vehicle, possess a valid, clean driver’s license and be sufficiently self-insured with liability insurance in the amount of $100/$300k., • Flexible hours, approximately 5-10 per month. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Physical activities and efforts required working in an office environment., • Visual acuity sufficient to maintain system of files and reports containing computer-generated and handwritten documents., • Auditory acuity sufficient to communicate with staff, clients, and others by phone and in person., • Mobility sufficient to conduct regular duties within a normal office environment and community.
