To protect your workforce, we are at your fingertips: internationalsos.com Job Description The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting in the care of animals and providing veterinary services, such as animal wellness exams, vaccinations, health screenings, health certificates, minor surgical procedures, treatments and other authorized procedures. The Veterinary Technician coordinates with the Pest and Vector department for the capture and treatment of feral cats. Key Responsibilities: • Examine privately owned, wild or other animals maintained on, or introduced onto military installations and advise on control and handling., • Perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures such as routine hematological tests, urinalysis, fecal and heartworm tests., • Perform routine daily tasks, such as feeding, weighing, and taking the temperature of animals., • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments., • Maintain and inventory of supplies for clinic operations., • Perform routine dental cleanings on animals., • Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques., • Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery., • Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces, such as urinalyses and blood counts, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems., • Ensure all cats and dogs are microchipped and manage the microchip program., • Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination., • Maintain clean and sterile equipment, examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels and cages., • Fill prescriptions, measuring medications and labeling containers., • Maintain veterinary records. Basic Requirements/Certifications: • Current license, credentials, certification, or registration in at least one state in the U.S., • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Veterinary Technician., • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment., • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time., • On call availability is a requirement of this position., • Must be able to read, write & speak English to effectively communicate., • This position is unaccompanied., • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required., • US DOD CNACI or the ability to obtain one is required., • A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. Additional Information Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
