Location: Palos Verdes Estates, CA \n Schedule: Part-Time | Approximately 15–20 Hours Per Week | In-Person Preferred \n Send resume + cover letter to: inquire@jkbhomedesign.com \n \n Reports To \n Design Implementation Manager \n Works closely with: \n\n • Julie Beuerlein, Owner + Principal Designer\n, • Operations + Marketing Manager\n\n \n Position Purpose \n The Design + Studio Assistant supports JKB Home Design across design development, project implementation, procurement, documentation, studio operations, and business administration. \n \n This is a hands-on position for someone with previous interior design experience who enjoys both the creative and organizational sides of the work. The right person will be equally comfortable working in AutoCAD or SketchUp, pulling materials for a presentation, organizing project information, taking detailed meeting notes, coordinating vendor appointments, updating Asana, preparing project documentation, or helping keep the studio organized and running smoothly. \n \n JKB is a small, highly collaborative studio. This role requires flexibility, initiative, strong attention to detail, good judgment, and excellent follow-through. The strongest person in this position will learn to anticipate what the designers and studio need rather than simply waiting to be assigned the next task. \n Asana is central to how JKB operates. Design work, administrative work, project follow-up, vendor communication, deadlines, and internal responsibilities are managed through Asana. The Design + Studio Assistant will be expected to become highly proficient in Asana and use it consistently to help keep the studio organized and accountable. \n \n Primary Responsibilities \n \n 1.Design Support \n Provide day-to-day design support throughout the development of JKB projects. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings\n, • Develop and update SketchUp models\n, • Assist with space planning and furniture layouts\n, • Source furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, materials, finishes, accessories, and other project items\n, • Research product specifications, pricing, availability, and lead times\n, • Create and update mood boards, design schemes, and presentation materials\n, • Pull fabrics, finishes, tile, flooring, wallpaper, and other samples\n, • Assist with finish boards and client presentations\n, • Request samples and follow up with vendors\n, • Maintain accurate product and specification information\n, • Incorporate approved design revisions into project documentation\n, • Assist the Design Implementation Manager with drafting and updating project documents\n\n \n 2.Meeting + Project Communications Support \n Act as a quiet but active participant in internal meetings, client meetings, site visits, and other project conversations. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Take thorough and accurate notes during meetings and site visits\n, • Listen for decisions, action items, deadlines, unresolved questions, and follow-up needs\n, • Participate thoughtfully while allowing Julie and the Design Implementation Manager to lead the meeting\n, • Update Asana promptly after meetings, site visits, and significant vendor communications\n, • Record project decisions, assignments, deadlines, and next steps\n, • Update project status and outstanding action items\n, • Work with the Design Implementation Manager to draft and update project-related documents\n, • Make sure information discussed verbally is translated into organized documentation and actionable next steps\n, • Follow open items through to completion\n, • Flag information requiring Julie’s or the Design Implementation Manager’s attention\n\n An important part of this role is making sure what was discussed becomes what gets done. \n \n 3.Studio Support + Orgnaization \n Maintain a beautiful, organized, efficient, and fully functioning design studio. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Organize and maintain the studio sample library\n, • Maintain fabric, finish, tile, flooring, wallpaper, and material libraries\n, • Organize client project bins and active project materials\n, • Label and file incoming samples and product information\n, • Maintain product catalogs and studio resources\n, • Organize incoming deliveries and packages\n, • Prepare samples and materials for client meetings\n, • Prepare meeting areas before client and vendor appointments\n, • Pull, organize, and return samples as needed\n, • Restock office and studio supplies\n, • Keep shared work areas organized and presentation-ready\n, • Assist with studio clean-up and periodic resource organization\n, • Coordinate vendor appointments both in the studio and outside the studio\n, • Manage and monitor the Inquire email inbox\n, • Respond to or route appropriate inquiries and make sure anything requiring the team’s attention is communicated promptly\n, • Help ensure messages, requests, deliveries, and appointments do not fall through the cracks\n\n \n 4.Project + Implementation Support \n Support active projects from design development through installation, photoshoots, and project closeout. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Organize project documentation\n, • Make sure project documentation, files, specifications, and information are printed when appropriate and/or organized in the correct project folders on the Drive\n, • Maintain clear and consistent digital and physical project files\n, • Prepare installation binders and other project materials\n, • Manage and organize project inventory charts and merchandise\n, • Prepare installation lists\n, • Track all items going to and returning from installations and photoshoots\n, • Maintain accurate records of what has left the studio, what has been installed, what has returned, and what remains outstanding\n, • Prepare installation supplies\n, • Assist with installation planning and preparation\n, • Participate in installations as needed\n, • Coordinate sample returns\n, • Support punch-list completion\n, • Assist with project closeout documentation and organization\n, • Maintain current project information so the team can quickly understand project status\n, • Update project status and responsibilities in Asana following meetings, site visits, installations, photoshoots, and vendor communication\n\n \n 5.Procurement Support \n Assist the Design Implementation Manager with purchasing, approvals, order administration, and procurement documentation. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Prepare draft purchase orders\n, • Organize vendor paperwork\n, • Review order confirmations for accuracy\n, • Track shipping and delivery information\n, • Update procurement logs and project records\n, • File and organize invoices\n, • Follow up on samples, pricing, availability, and lead times\n, • Assist with monthly reconciliation preparation\n, • Maintain organized vendor documentation\n, • Manage CFAs and related approvals\n, • Track CFA status and make sure approvals are documented and communicated\n, • Support the Design Implementation Manager in making sure invoices are current and properly saved on the Drive\n, • Print and organize invoices in the appropriate project binder for easy reference\n, • Maintain clear documentation of purchasing decisions and approvals\n, • Update procurement responsibilities and follow-up in Asana\n\n \n 6.Principal + Business Support \n Support Julie and the Design Implementation Manager with the administrative and business details required to keep projects and the studio moving efficiently. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Assist with preparing project proposals based on scope and direction provided by Julie\n, • Assist with preparing contracts and related client documents using JKB templates and Julie’s guidance\n, • Prepare and organize project change orders when scope changes\n, • Help ensure proposals, agreements, change orders, and related project documents are accurate, organized, saved appropriately, and distributed when needed\n, • Maintain organized records of signed agreements and related project documentation\n, • Provide flexible support to Julie and the Design Implementation Manager across project, studio, and business priorities\n, • Assist Julie with managing and maintaining her calendar\n, • Coordinate client meetings, internal meetings, site visits, vendor appointments, and other calendar commitments\n, • Anticipate scheduling conflicts and allow appropriate preparation, travel, and focus time\n, • Help protect Julie’s time by keeping her calendar intentional and organized\n, • Make sure Julie has the information, documents, materials, and preparation needed before appointments and meetings\n, • Flag scheduling issues, deadlines, or commitments requiring Julie’s attention\n\n \n 7.Administrative Support \n Provide general administrative support necessary to keep the studio and projects organized. \n Responsibilities include: \n\n • Greet clients, vendors, and visitors professionally\n, • Help answer or route studio phone calls\n, • Schedule deliveries and appointments\n, • Scan, print, file, and organize documents\n, • Maintain digital project files\n, • Assist with data entry\n, • Support studio scheduling and coordination\n, • Maintain accurate and current information across Asana, Drive, project binders, and other studio systems\n, • Assist with additional administrative or studio priorities as needed\n\n \n Systems + Technology \n \n The Design + Studio Assistant should be comfortable using technology and able to learn new systems quickly. \n Required or expected proficiency includes: \n\n • AutoCAD\n, • SketchUp\n, • Asana — must become highly proficient\n, • Canva\n, • Dropbox and/or Google Drive\n, • Email and digital file management\n, • Basic spreadsheets and project tracking tools\n\n \n What We Are Looking For \n The strongest candidate will have: \n\n • Previous experience working in interior design or residential design\n, • Proficiency in AutoCAD\n, • Proficiency in SketchUp\n, • Comfort with Canva, Dropbox/Google Drive, and other digital tools\n, • The ability and willingness to become highly proficient in Asana\n, • Strong sourcing and product research skills\n, • Familiarity with interior design documentation and terminology\n, • Excellent organization and attention to detail\n, • Strong note-taking skills\n, • The ability to listen carefully and identify important decisions, responsibilities, and action items\n, • The ability to manage many smaller tasks while maintaining strong follow-through\n, • Clear and professional written and verbal communication\n, • Initiative and good judgment\n, • A collaborative and flexible attitude\n, • Genuine enthusiasm for interiors, furnishings, materials, and the design process\n, •
