Eco-Innovators is a program for 9th - 12th graders that gives students access to environmental STEM learning and introduces them to NYC infrastructure and leaders as they work to invent creative projects that push the environmental resiliency movement forward in their own communities. Students make real change as they explore urban infrastructure and advocacy tools and learn techniques to help solve challenging environmental issues, including expanding green spaces, increasing recycling and reducing waste, and improving energy efficiency. City Parks Foundation seeks an experienced environmental educator with deep knowledge of and passion for environmental resiliency and community advocacy. Reporting to the Senior Manager of STEM Pathways, the successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in delivering instruction to and working with adolescents in a project-based, out-of-school time setting. During the school year, the Eco-Innovators Program Manager manages and implements after-school programming for up to 25 high school students at each of 4 locations, using site-specific, inquiry-based lessons to stimulate meaningful learning experiences for students in their own communities. In the summer season, the Program Manager will implement an intensive version of the program for continuing juniors/seniors at one site from July through mid-August, Monday through Thursday (9am - 3pm). Responsibilities • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to members of the Platforms team, supporting their professional growth and helping them achieve their potential., • Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-based infrastructure using Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies., • Collaborate with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and integrate AI technologies to remove performance bottlenecks., • Refactor existing systems to enhance scalability, including transforming stateful components into stateless ones, and applying extensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms., • Lead efforts on data ingestion and export processes, improving efficiency and reducing dependencies on legacy technologies., • Drive platform reliability initiatives, including enhancing alerting, health checking, and incident management., • Champion continuous improvement efforts, including cost control measures and technological upgrades., • Oversee the development of internal tools that streamline workflows and reduce duplication of effort in development environments., • Ensure the platform meets rigorous testing and security standards to maintain data integrity and security., • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure meeting SLA Qualifications • Core software engineering skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python and Ruby., • Strong system administration experience, including fluency with Linux, networking, and bash scripting., • Proficiency with GCP., • Proficiency with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies., • Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform., • Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure., • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders., • Experience addressing scaling challenges and resource contention in distributed systems., • Engagement with the open-source community, including tool research, bug reporting, and code contribution., • Expertise in cloud data security Salary Range ($190- $230K) plus health insurance and equity. As an intern, youll gain hands-on exposure to IBM Business Analytics technologies while learning to design and implement solutions that help organizations make smarter business decisions. Youll collaborate with seasoned consultants and IT professionals who specialize in building and supporting enterprise-grade systems. Technologies you may work with include IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), MCP Severs, LLMs, Python, Rest APIs, relational data stores. This internship runs for four weeks, approximately 24 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and remote participation. The program is designed to introduce participants to the IBM Cognos Planning Analytics technology stack and related technologies. Those who complete the internship will be considered for future hybrid full-time opportunities based in Parsippany, NJ. The position pays $20 per hour during the program. Qualifications Were seeking candidates completing their undergraduate degree by December 2025, or recent graduates. Preferred majors include Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Finance/Business with programming experience. A background or strong interest in business finance is highly valued. Ideal candidates will demonstrate knowledge of programming concepts and familiarity with one or more languages such as Java, C, or Python. Experience with relational database querying is also preferred. Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in applying technology to solve business challenges are essential.
