Job Description Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures. This Sr. Director level position will report solid line to the VP of Operations and dotted line VP Procurement and Supply Chain - Corporate This role will have responsibility for providing strategic leadership, direction and driving performance for supply chain department at the NDS Mesa location. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing and facilitating execution of the procurement strategy across all U.S. operations, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance and risk management. This role oversees the entire flow of goods, from sourcing raw materials to delivering purchased materials to the production lines ensuring strict adherence to regulations and customer requirements. This role will lead NDS Mesa departments responsible for procurement, production planning, supplier quality, purchased material, finished goods inventory, material storage and shipping. This role will leverage Nammo continuous improvement lean and 6 sigma practices to continually improve processes and practices achieve cost and/or value improvement targets. Additionally, this role will lead the procurement team across all US sites to drive procurement excellence, negotiate strategic contracts, and optimize supplier relationships to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in defense, aerospace, or high-complexity manufacturing industries, with expertise in compliance, cost control, and supply chain resilience. This role has a wide scope of responsibility to lead and mentor a team of managers and team leads at the NDS Mesa location while leading procurement strategy for all US Nammo locations. How you will be rewarded as our Sr. Director, Supply Chain: • Competitive compensation, • Monday-Thursday work week working four 10-hour days (off on Fridays), • Generous paid time off and Holiday Pay, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, • 401(K), employee assistance programs, health savings account KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supply Chain Management • Lead and manage the end-to-end supply chain operations, through acceptable material delivery for production and in support of NDS Mesa Site facilities, ensuring timely procurement, supplier quality, inventory management and logistics, • Make decisions that are guided by functional strategy and priorities with the ability to consistently meet goals and objectives, • Improve and develop standard work and processes that increase operation efficiency, reduce overall costs and create value that aligns with company’s growth and performance objectives, • Work closely with U.S. procurement team to ensure alignment with sourcing strategies for NDS Mesa and other U.S. Nammo Sites, • Oversees shipping and receiving of explosives, chemicals and other dangerous goods, • Develop and implement procurement strategies for all US sites aligned with corporate and regional goals, tailored to the local market's specific needs, • Actively arrange and facilitate U.S. wide procurement forums aimed at U.S. procurement strategy alignment and sharing of best practices, • Maintain a procurement system that ensures compliance with government regulations (i.e. ITAR, FAR/DFARS), industry standards, customer regulations and internal policies, • Lead efforts in anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and other ethical practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, • Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities, focusing on optimizing supplier performance and contract negotiation., • Conduct thorough market analysis to understand trends, key players, and competitive pricing within the country., • Lead negotiations for high-value contracts, ensuring best possible pricing, quality, and delivery terms, • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including supplier dependency, quality issues, and delivery delays, • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, driving performance improvements and creating strategic partnerships, • Oversite of NDS Mesa supply chain operational performance to ensure compliance with export/import regulations and standards such as ATF Licenses, ITAR, FAR, DFAR, DOD Safety, OSHA, EPA, DOT and other regulatory matters, • Develop meaningful performance metrics for key operational areas for the NDS Mesa Supply Chain team that drive their performance to achieve annual Site level business outcomes, • Generate, disseminate and promote a culture of continuous process improvement, leveraging Nammo Lean and Six Sigma practices to drive smooth and efficient supply chain operations., • Continuously improve processes for inventory management to maintain levels necessary to achieve financial business targets, • Close coordination with internal and external customers including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets, • Establish organizational policies and procedures that drive ability to scale operational performance and maintain compliance with all industry, government and customer regulations., • Assist the Business Development team with proposal efforts as needed., • Implement best practices in demand planning, category management, and supplier evaluation, • Lead, mentor, and develop the NDS Mesa Supply Chain Team, promoting and fostering a highly engaged working culture LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING This position requires autonomous daily decision-making capabilities when working with both internal and external stakeholders. High level decision making, leading and coaching a team on best practices are imperative to the role. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • United States Citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility., • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering or related field. Significant related experience may be considered in place of the educational requirement, • 12 or more years of verifiable management experience in logistics, production planning, order processing and procurement, with at least five years in a senior leadership role, • Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR, and other regulatory and compliance requirements. Familiarity with international trade regulations., • Experience in defense, aerospace, or a regulated manufacturing environment preferred, • Knowledgeable in working in ERP/MRP systems, procurement analytics, category management and digital procurement tools., • Knowledgeable in the application of Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve processes and business outcomes, • Excellent leadership, communication and strategic problem-solving skills. Ability to motivate and develop people and teams. A proven track record of success in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, • Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving., • Strong negotiation skills. Ability to negotiate favorable terms, pricing and contracts with suppliers.
