Job Description RESIDENTIAL MANAGER Position Purpose The Residential Manager is directly responsible for ensuring the creation of a safe and healthy environment that fosters communication, a sense of well-being, empowerment, and support to the consumers supported by the program. The Manager is responsible for overall management of the residential site(s) they supervise and all staff working in the site/group(s). The Residential Manager will provide direct supervision of the Lead Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the sites they supervise. The Residential Manager will act as a role model for employees regarding the expectations of how the job duties should be performed, the attitude to maintain while at work, and appropriate interactions with consumers and other professionals. A commitment to the agency's values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed. Additionally, this is a full-time hourly position, which is eligible for overtime pay (as approved). It is expected that the residential manager will work in a 40-hour workweek, with the flexibility to work non-scheduled hours to handle emergencies, appointments, and other duties based upon staffing needs. The Residential Manager will assist the Assistant Director and/or designee with the supervision of assigned personnel, including but not limited to Direct Support Professional Leads, Direct Support Professionals, and students in the workplace. Provides oversight to home operations and performs duties in the areas of operational administration, home management, therapeutic intervention, teaching skills, documentation, Individual Habilitation Plan, and/or Treatment Plan development. Responsible for ensuring daily structure and coverage to the residence, which includes supervision and assistance with living skills, personal care needs, case management, auditing medication, transportation service, crisis management, and recreational and social activities. The Residential Manager communicates all significant behavioral changes in behavior level and notable incidents to the designated supervisory personnel. The Residential Manager acts as liaison and advocates for community resources. The Residential Manager is also responsible for ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and adhering to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations, and corporate policies. Ensure that services are rendered according to Apis or the assigned affiliate’s mission and ethical standards. The Residential Manager is required to cooperate with all licensing staff in any inspection or investigation. Performs additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor. The Residential Manager will work in ratio. Major Responsibilities DIRECT DUTIES: • Assists with daily living activities, including but not limited to planning and preparing meals, housekeeping, and assisting with personal hygiene, cleaning., • Supports the independence of persons served by providing the assistance necessary to maximize their quality of life., • Models hope and optimism when encouraging persons served to achieve their potential., • Supports persons served in developing relationships and becoming involved in their communities., • Cultivates a safe and supportive relationship and environment., • Provides supervision and guidance to the person served to build skills and competence., • Documents interactions and activities per policies and procedures, • Monitors and responds to crisis situations or potential crisis situations consistent with best practice, policies, and procedures, • Utilizes skills and competencies to respond to crises., • Reports suspected incidents of neglect, abuse or mistreatment consistent with the organization's policies and procedures, • Provide appropriate supervision and documentation around employee performance and development., • Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to the organization's ethical code., • Assists in maintaining the well-being and safety of persons served., • May assist the consumer with daily medications., • Performs other duties as requested or assigned, verbally or in writing. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversight of 2-3 CLAs to include an equal amount of ratio time in all sites, • Manage scheduling of shifts at assigned sites, • Read and respond to emails within 24 hours, • Participate in quality inspections on all shifts, • Provide assistance with emergencies at the CLA, • Supervise and direct the work of Assistant Residential Coordinator and Residential Specialists to include the following:, • Medical Appointments and medication management, • Schedule and attend consumer medical appointments, • Complete requirements to become a Medication Administration Observer, • Monitor medications for refills and reconcile cycle medications upon delivery prior to the start of each month, • Ensure staff administering medications have completed and are current in medication administration training, • On Call Responsibility, • Participate in on-call rotation for the team of homes as assigned, • Plan with another Residential Coordinator/Assistant Residential Coordinator for call coverage if unavailable for calls, • Complete required training and training hours, • Conduct and observe medication practicums for employees, • Conduct in-home orientation and individual-specific training for all new employees, • Review Critical Information Book, • Ensure all signatures on required documentation are complete to include the EHR System, • Conduct Getting to Know Me and other annual individual-specific training for all employees. On-Site Orientation., • Conduct Competency-Based Training for current employees, • Provide documentation for all training to the Training Department, • Understand the skill application of DSP competency. Leadership competency training. Become credentialed per state regulations, • Monitor the training compliance list and inform LDSP and DSPs of upcoming and outstanding trainings due, • Complete understanding of state-specific regulations, • Maintain home according to state-specific regulations and agency policy, • Maintain consumer files and records according to state-specific regulations and agency policy, • Maintain staff training according to state regulations and agency policy, • Review all CLA EHR a minimum of 5 days a week, • Elevate any concerns to the immediate supervisor, • Review progress notes and ensure completion, • Complete program oversight as assigned, • File medical appointment forms (MAF). Each state is different so remove HIRS. in the Health Information Recording System (HIRS) in accordance with agency policy, • Complete food shopping and maintain food supply in the CLA, • Provide explanations with regard to Time Over/Time Under for hours worked in the CLA compared to the budget., • Monitor clock-in and clock-out of DSPs in the payroll management system., • Keep overtime to a minimum., • Monitor proper completion of all required paperwork and EHR documentation, • Complete monthly fire drills by the designated date., • Ensure a meaningful day for consumers, • Assist with vehicle training and wheelchair securement training for employees working at the CLA and operating the vehicle. We don’t have staff in PA certified to do this. Must have someone who’s certified to provide this training., • Must be competent in the level of need assessments, such as SIS Assessments, ICAP scoring, etc., depending on the state., • Appropriately manage consumer funds and petty cash per regulations., • Effective Communication: Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate with residents, families, staff, and external agencies. Education and Experience: • High School diploma or equivalent;, • Minimum of three years of experience related to working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness, • Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid non-provisional driver’s license., • Supervisory experience preferred.
