The MEP Superintendent leads the coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) scopes of work on our projects. The ideal candidate has experience leading and managing the MEP scopes of work on projects while collaborating with other superintendents and members of the project team. The MEP Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality, and adherence to budget requirements for their project. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervises assistant superintendents, field labor, subcontractors, and trade and field personnel DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Manages and leads MEP subcontractors throughout the project's duration, • Assist in the development and maintenance of schedules for all MEP installation activities and procurement, • Coordinate activities, schedule, procurement, project logistics, and plans with the project team, • Review and approve materials/equipment for MEP systems and monitor the installation, startup, and commissioning of the systems, • Resolve conflicts, including but not limited to design clarifications, labor and equipment, and scheduling, relating to MEP scopes of work, • Provide progress reports and regular status updates to the project team and clients during regularly scheduled meetings, • Leading project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training process, and punchlist required for acceptance and handover of systems, • Review MEP submittals, • Understand the project plans and specifications., • Coordinate and manage the quality control process for MEP scopes of work, • Maintains positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other employees., • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately., • Ensures all employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy., • Maintains an organized job site, including the field office., • Demonstrates strong leadership characteristics., • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES • In-depth knowledge of construction job-site management., • Considerable knowledge of the construction industry and safety practices., • Supervisory experience., • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency., • Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills., • Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions promptly based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs., • Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with diverse personalities. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • A four-year college degree in construction management is preferred, but not required., • Minimum of three years of successful construction experience., • At least four years of experience in mechanical or electrical construction, • Three years of experience in mission-critical, healthcare, or MEP construction preferred, • OSHA 510 preferred, but not required, • Current CPR/First-Aid certification or ability to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment Physical Requirements • Physical abilities representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job., • Prolonged periods of standing and walking., • Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of arms, legs, and entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, etc., • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times., • Manual dexterity and sufficient ability to coordinate the movement of hands, feet, and body generally as needed to operate a variety of machinery, tools, and equipment., • Must be able to work in a variety of work conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noise, smells, weather elements, and other elements associated with commercial construction sites., • To safely conduct activities, operate equipment, and navigate the worksite, must be able to be aware of surroundings (which generally requires sufficient vision and hearing)., • Must be able to distinguish colors given safety signs and warnings., • Must be able to maintain balance., • Must be able to work at heights., • Must be able to work in tight or confined spaces., • Must be able to safely work on or around scaffolding and trenches., • Must be able to use all applicable Personal Protective Equipment., • Must be able to perform all the functions necessary to complete the above duties/responsibilities on a safe but timely basis.
