Position Overview The Academy Charter School Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school’s mission and values established by the school. Responsibilities and Duties • Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students, • Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with Administration, • Teach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and implement IEPs as necessary, • Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods, • Use consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom, • Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement, • Measure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school’s formative and summative assessment tools, • Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a wide variety of metrics, • Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals, • Create, and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential, • Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice, • Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators, • Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios The Academy is committed to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Position Overview The Academy Charter School Teacher Assistant understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Teacher's Assistant is responsible for supporting the classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school’s mission and values established by the school. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assist in instructing and supervising children in classroom activities., • Continuously monitor children to ensure safety at all times, and report child abuse and neglect when necessary., • Participate in learning teams within the school community that maximize cohesion, collaboration and alignment with school initiatives, • Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment, • Maintain a quality room arrangement in compliance with curriculum standards, • Provide opportunities and supervise activities in order for students to demonstrate individually and large groups the skills and talents developed in the instructional program., • As a parent advocate, along with assistance from the School Counselor resolve issues or concerns that are raised, • Inform parents about daily classroom routine and expectations, • Responsible for the safety and welfare of all students during admission, dismissal, lunch and physical education, • Interact with students, parents and colleagues in a professional, positive and inspiring manner, • Maintain classroom supply lists and inventory, • Other tasks as assigned by Administration Pay Transparency: The hourly range for this role is $18.00/hr. - $21.50/hr. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree required., • New York Teaching Assistant Certification required, • 1-2 years student teaching experience in a urban school setting, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required to develop rubrics, examine data and metrics that will enhance student knowledge and promote performance of superior work products, • Knowledge of childhood development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each child
