The MST Coach is a specialized Case Planner role with a concentration of the MST-FIT model of service. Working within the social service department, the Coach supports youth and families, along with department staff by wrapping services to ensure successful discharge. MST-FIT (Multi-systemic Therapy/Family Integrated Transition) Coach Perform case management responsibility to the youth using the MST approach. Performs all activities and administrative tasks associated with handling a caseload in keeping with all ACS and OCFS regulations. Field work that sometimes requires you to drive residents in your vehicle. Occasional evening hours are required for parent conferences and home visits. Our main campus in Rockaway Park, Queens, houses a Residential Treatment Center, Close to Home Non-Secure Placement programs, administrative offices, clinical services, and an on-site NYC Department of Education school. Duties • Lead and supervise groups of children or youth during various activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times, • Manage classroom or activity space effectively through excellent classroom management techniques, • Implement behavior management strategies to foster positive interactions and discipline when necessary, • Facilitate age-appropriate youth group activities, including games, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and educational sessions, • Ensure adherence to first aid protocols by providing immediate assistance in case of minor injuries; operate AED (Automated External Defibrillator) equipment when needed, • Maintain a safe environment by following all health and safety guidelines, including CPR certification requirements, • Collaborate with team members to plan, organize, and execute special events or themed programs aligned with youth development goals, • Support children’s emotional well-being through Christian counseling principles or other supportive approaches as appropriate, • Document attendance, incident reports, and activity feedback accurately for program evaluation purposes, • Assist with outdoor work when necessary, including supervising outdoor play areas and ensuring safety protocols are followed Qualifications • Proven experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings, • Strong classroom management skills coupled with behavior management expertise, • Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED operation, and familiarity with first aid protocols; additional certifications in special education or childhood development are a plus, • Experience facilitating youth group activities or similar programs such as theater, tutoring, babysitting, or youth development initiatives, • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining a positive and energetic attitude, • Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices for working with young children of diverse backgrounds, • Outdoor work experience preferred for supervising outdoor activities safely, • Excellent communication skills to engage children positively and collaborate with team members effectively Join us as a Group Leader to inspire young minds through engaging activities while developing your leadership skills in a vibrant environment.
