Position Description: ACT is seeking an experienced and dedicated staff attorney with demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural groups to join our legal team. The Staff Attorney will provide a range of legal services to ACT members and African immigrant communities in New York City, including petitions for alien relatives, naturalization, adjustment of status and more. This position will report to the Director of Immigration Legal Services and collaborate with other legal and programmatic personnel to advance the Chapter's goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include: • Work closely with NY-based legal staff to conduct in-depth immigration legal screenings and provide application assistance to clients eligible for relief, including adjustments of status, TPS, naturalization, green card renewals, family-based visa petitions, and removal of conditions for eligible lawful permanent residents., • Draft, prepare, and submit immigration petitions and applications., • Manage active caseload, ensuring timely updates and accurate records of client interactions and case progress., • Retain individuals for representation before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (“USCIS”) and possibly the Executive Office of Immigration Review (“EOIR”)., • Supervise administrative staff, including paralegals and interns., • Work with the New York Legal Director to develop funding proposals and grant reports for legal services as well as ensure completion of grant deliverables for both government and private grants., • Refer prospective and/or current clients to appropriate partners or service organizations where necessary., • Participate in community outreach and educational activities, including Know-Your-Rights presentations, citizenship, and legal clinics., • Participate in team and department meetings., • Stay informed on changes in immigration laws and policies by attending relevant training and professional development opportunities related to immigration law., • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required, must be a licensed attorney admitted to the Bar (preferably in New York), active and in good standing., • At least 2 years of experience with immigration law, preferably representing low-income immigrants., • Knowledge of immigration law, policy, and procedure., • Must reside in or around New York City., • Experience with affirmative and defensive applications for humanitarian relief (particularly asylum), family-based applications, and naturalization applications is highly desirable., • Strong case management, legal research, and legal writing skills., • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently and in a collaborative community organization environment, including accountability to goals, managing across teams and prioritizing workload., • Excellent interpersonal skills. Fieldston Lower hires associate teachers to work in PreK-3rd grade classes. Knowledge Road is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to join our team with experience working with children with Autism and provide essential support for students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a substantial shortage city-wide of qualified special education teachers, your skills are urgently needed to help students get the personalized instruction they need. This provides the chance to work directly with students who need specialized academic assistance, supporting them in achieving their learning goals through targeted intervention and evidence-based teaching. As a SETSS teacher with Knowledge Road, you'll provide individualized and small-group instruction in educational settings, working closely with families and school teams to promote student progress and academic success. Responsibilities * Provide high-quality, individualized small-group instruction for students with disabilities, as outlined in their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP) * Ensure fulfillment of each individual student's weekly IESP mandates and keep an intervention schedule coordinated with the school schedule. * Develop and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain regular family communication with updates on progress and upcoming steps. * Record service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with precise and timely documentation. * Create and execute engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student. * Work with parents, teachers, and other school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students. * Monitor and assess student progress, offering regular updates to families and school-based teams * Participate in IESP meetings as required, providing expert insights and recommendations to support Qualifications: * Valid NYS Students with Disabilities (B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist. * Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. * Must not have been employed by NYC DOE within the last 12 months. * Experience teaching Math and ELA. * Dependable transportation. * NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to complete before start. * Experience supporting Elementary School Aged Students with Autism. Schedule & Location This is a full-time, school-day position at the student's school with a schedule aligned with the NYC DOE calendar. You will provide services on-site at schools in the Manhattan area, with assignments based on student needs. Hours per week are determined by IESP mandates; caseload may vary by assignment. Typically ~20-30 hours/week depending on placements. Compensation $60−$100 per hour (1099). Pay rates differ by group size and placement. Individual IESP sessions typically start at $60 per hour.
