Job Description Who we are One More Smith, is an Animal Rescue and Sanctuary located in Chester, NJ, We believe that all animals deserve to be cared for and given a chance to live a fulfilling life, no matter their circumstances. Our mission is to provide a "forever home" to feral animals and those rescued from kill shelters, ensuring they are never euthanized due to lack of space or medical needs. We offer 24/7 care, including food, water, and attention, along with full medical treatment that includes spaying and neutering. Our animals benefit from an environmentally friendly facility that is equipped with heating, air conditioning, and a variety of toys and equipment to enhance their well-being. We also specialize in rehabilitating feral cats, providing them with a safe and comfortable environment where they can thrive. While the life expectancy of a cat in the wild is often less than two years, cats in our care live an average of 8 to 14 years, thanks to the love, medical care, and attention they receive at OMS. At One More Smith, we give animals not only the care they need but also the comfort and security they deserve for a good life. Responsibilities Overview: We are seeking one or two motivated individuals to join our team as part-time Animal Care Workers. The role involves feeding, cleaning, and caring for a variety of animals, including cats, mini’s, goats, and other farm animals. This position requires physical work, including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Ideal candidate lives near Chester, NJ. Key Responsibilities: • Animal Feeding and Care: o Feed, pet and provide daily care for cats, mini’s, goats, and sheep and other animals as needed. o Administer medication to animals as directed. o Clean and refill food and water bowls for all animals. o Monitor the health and well-being of animals, reporting any concerns. • Cleaning and Maintenance: o Clean animal enclosures, including stalls and outdoor spaces. o Scoop litter boxes and clean up animal waste. o Sanitize surfaces and equipment in animal areas. o Maintain cleanliness in the facility, including the kitchen and wash areas. • End of Day Tasks: o Ensure all animals are securely housed at the end of each day. o Perform a final check to ensure water is filled and areas are cleaned. o Take out trash and recycling, and ensure the facility is locked and secure. Additional Duties: • Monitor supplies and inform the team when items are running low., • Assist with seasonal cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed. Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks for 3-6 hours each shift., • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods. Hours and Flexible Schedule • Flexible Hours, approximately 16-20 hours per week, • Estimated 4-5 hours per day, 4 days per week, • Occasional weekend work requited: One weekend per quarter, • Some holiday work may be required, with time and a half pay for holidays worked. Qualifications and Education Requirements • A passion for animal care and welfare., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Prior experience with animal care is a plus, but not required., • Must be reliable and able to commit to the schedule., • Ideally lives near Chester, NJ Compensation • Year 1: o First 6 months: $20.00 per hour o Next 6 months and after $22.00 per hour
