Job Description Job Title: Yard Worker Job Description The Yard Worker / GSA Vehicle Program Specialist manages all operational activities related to the vehicle program at assigned branch locations. This role ensures that GSA vehicles are received, inspected, maintained, and prepared for sale in accordance with GSA and company compliance standards. The position requires broad operational knowledge, strong mechanical aptitude, and excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently with limited supervision while serving as the primary point of contact for GSA representatives. Responsibilities • Manage daily logistics for all incoming and outgoing GSA vehicles, ensuring smooth flow of vehicles through the yard and auction processes., • Perform detailed vehicle inspections in accordance with GSA standards and company procedures, documenting findings accurately and completely., • Oversee marshalling of new vehicles and trade-ins, ensuring all units meet readiness requirements throughout the sale process., • Evaluate vehicle condition and identify required maintenance, repairs, and diagnostic checks, including oil changes, body work, and other services., • Coordinate and schedule vehicle maintenance and diagnostics with internal teams and external service providers, ensuring timely completion of work., • Drive or arrange transport of vehicles to and from external service providers, verifying that all repairs and services are completed as requested., • Conduct safe road tests at various speeds to confirm operational readiness and performance of vehicles after maintenance or repair., • Serve as the primary point of contact for GSA representatives at the branch, providing timely updates and professional communication via email, phone, and in person., • Respond to inquiries from government partners and customers, resolving issues promptly and maintaining a high level of service and integrity., • Complete and maintain all GSA records, inspection reports, and transactional documentation in compliance with contractual and regulatory standards., • Safeguard government and company information by following confidentiality policies and secure handling procedures., • Ensure all operational procedures align with IAA, DOT, and GSA safety and compliance requirements., • Promote and follow all company safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to yard safety protocols., • Remain alert to hazards associated with vehicle operation, heavy equipment, and general yard activity, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks., • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the yard, office, and workspaces to ensure a professional and safe environment for employees and visiting partners., • Support branch operations as needed by performing vehicle check-in and documentation for non-GSA inventory., • Perform data entry and record management tasks to support auction preparation and inventory accuracy., • Assist customers, towers, and partners visiting the branch by providing directions, answering questions, and facilitating efficient service., • Move, position, and organize vehicles within the yard, including general yard work, detailing, and basic preparation for sale., • Operate forklifts, hand tools, and power tools safely to support yard operations, vehicle movement, and general production tasks., • Unload trucks and support general labor and production activities to maintain efficient yard and auction operations. Essential Skills • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify vehicle repair and diagnostic needs., • Experience performing general yard work, vehicle handling, and yard operations., • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with digital inspection and recordkeeping tools., • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail., • Professional written and verbal communication skills with proven customer service experience., • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising sound judgment in daily decision-making., • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions., • Strong understanding of vehicle title processes and auction operations., • Experience supporting government contracts, GSA programs, or fleet marshalling operations., • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other yard equipment., • Ability to perform general labor, including unloading trucks, moving vehicles, and using hand and power tools., • Computer operation skills to support data entry, documentation, and digital recordkeeping. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in a yard, auction, fleet, or automotive environment., • Background in production, general production, or logistics support roles., • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a yard or shop setting., • Customer service–oriented mindset with the ability to interact professionally with government partners, customers, and vendors., • Familiarity with safety protocols related to vehicle operation, heavy equipment, and yard activities., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support both GSA and non-GSA operations as needed. Work Environment This role operates in a combined yard and minimal office environment with a primary focus on outdoor yard activities. You will work a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday. The position involves regular exposure to varying weather conditions while working outdoors, as well as time spent indoors handling documentation and computer-based tasks. You will work around vehicles, heavy equipment, and active yard operations, using forklifts, hand tools, and power tools as needed. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, with an expectation of maintaining a clean, organized, and professional workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
