About the role The Lead Field Safety Manager is a Senior level field based leadership role and primary safety compliance contact for 10+ facilities or operational sites. Responsible for elevating safety performance, operational discipline, and risk management across the Archaea organization and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and industry safety regulations and standards. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures; conducting inspections; supporting hazard analysis, incident investigations, and safety training; and promoting a proactive safety culture. Serving as a subject matter expert (SME) in key health and safety disciplines, this role ensures the organization’s safety programs align with federal, state, and industry best practices. While the role does not include direct reports, it influences safety performance and culture through mentorship, advice, and cross-functional collaboration. The Lead Manager works independently within a broad scope, mentoring regional safety managers, shaping safety policies, and proactively identifying safety risks and improvement opportunities. Key accountabilities • Serve as the primary safety partner for an assigned region, supporting Wellfield, RNG, LFGTE, Construction, and Maintenance operations through a strong field presence that includes site visits, coaching, operational reviews, hazard recognition, and control verification., • Plan, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, policies, procedures, and safety management systems to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and evolving operational needs., • Act as a senior subject matter expert (SME) for OSHA compliance, industry standards, environmental health, industrial hygiene, and high‑risk operational safety practices., • Provide advanced HSE support for RNG, LFGTE, Digester, Wellfield gas systems, extraction wells, blowers, compressors, electrical and control systems, power distribution, construction, and maintenance activities., • Promote and sustain a strong safety‑first culture through leadership engagement, training, clear communication of expectations, and field‑based coaching across all organizational levels., • Mentor, coach, and develop Field Safety Managers, regional safety staff, and field employees, including onboarding and growth of new or less experienced safety personnel., • Support operational and project planning by integrating safety into permitting, job safety analyses (JSAs), readiness reviews, outage and shutdown planning, tie‑ins, and capital project execution., • Conduct and support risk and hazard assessments for high‑risk work activities including excavation, electrical work, confined space entry, lifting, hot work, energy isolation/LOTO, and work on or near energized systems., • Serve as a primary point of contact for incident response and investigations, leading or supporting high‑risk, complex, or high‑consequence investigations with thorough documentation, root cause analysis, and effective corrective actions., • Facilitate learning reviews, share lessons learned, and mentor teams on investigation quality, risk identification, and continuous improvement to drive consistent investigation standards across regions., • Monitor regional and enterprise safety performance, analyze metrics and trends, and recommend strategies for meaningful risk reduction and performance improvement., • Develop and maintain safety protocols, alerts, training materials, and system updates related to SME areas, and drive effective use of EHS Insight, Asana, and standardized safety workflows., • Support the implementation, training, auditing, and continuous improvement of core safety programs, including energy isolation/LOTO, confined space entry, electrical safety, excavation/trenching, and contractor safety management., • Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action tracking to ensure sustained regulatory compliance and operational discipline., • Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance teams to embed safety into daily operations, capital projects, and operational changes., • Lead or contribute to cross‑functional safety committees, enterprise initiatives, and strategic safety projects that advance organizational risk management objectives. Essential Education • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, Science, Communications, or a related field preferred but not required. Candidates without a degree may be considered with 10+ years of equivalent industry and/or Health & Safety experience, demonstrating expertise in program development, incident investigations, and fostering a positive safety culture. Essential Experience • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience applying federal, state, and local safety requirements in complex, high-risk operations., • Ability to influence safety performance without direct authority, working cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance teams., • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate expectations, findings, and recommendations at all organizational levels., • Proficiency in data analysis, risk assessment, and familiarity with safety management systems and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)., • Ability to support incident response and urgent field needs, including after hours. How much do we pay? $120,000 - $155,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
