Position Overview RTGFL seeks a Vice President of Marketing and Communications (VP of Marketing) to lead and manage the organizations communications and marketing department. This executive-level position is responsible for supervising a high-performing team, overseeing departmental operations and budget, and ensuring all communications strategies advance RTGFLs mission and strategic goals. As a member of the executive leadership team, the vice president will shape brand positioning, oversee public relations, manage government relations messaging, and lead multi-channel marketing campaigns. The VP will also be responsible for ensuring communications strategies directly support fundraising, donor relations, and advocacy efforts across Florida. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Brand Management Define the overall communications and marketing vision for RTGFL, ensuring alignment with the organizations mission, strategic plan, and long-term goals. Serve as the primary guardian of the RTGFL brand, ensuring consistency of voice, visuals, and messaging across all channels and materials Work closely with the CEO and executive team to integrate communications priorities into organizational strategy and decision-making. Develop strategies to strengthen RTGFLs visibility and reputation statewide and nationally as a leader in affordable housing, disaster recovery, and community revitalization. Use market research, community insights, and performance analytics to guide brand positioning, measure audience engagement, and refine communication approaches. Evaluate and implement emerging marketing tools, technologies, and platforms to expand RTGFLs reach and ensure relevance in a rapidly changing communications landscape. Create clear, compelling, and mission-driven messaging frameworks for use by staff, leadership, and board members in all outreach efforts. Ensure branding and messaging resonate with diverse audiences, including homeowners, donors, policymakers, media, and community partners. Establish brand-protective strategies and proactive communication protocols to safeguard organizational reputation during high-visibility issues. Align marketing and communications strategies with development, programs, and operations to ensure unified storytelling and consistent representation of RTGFLs impact. Team Leadership & Department Oversight Lead and manage the communications and marketing team, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and performance outcomes. Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top communications talent; provide mentoring, coaching, and growth opportunities to staff at all levels. Set annual goals and KPIs for the department and each team member, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback to ensure professional excellence. Establish clear workflows, policies, and procedures to ensure efficiency, consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives. Manage the departmental budget, monitor expenditure, and ensure resources are allocated strategically for maximum impact. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven team culture that aligns with RTGFLs mission and values. Ensure effective collaboration with development, operations, and program teams so communications strategies amplify organizational priorities. Oversee relationships with consultants, vendors, and media partners, ensuring quality deliverables and alignment with organizational goals. Provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations to the CEO and board on departmental progress, challenges, and opportunities. Public Relations, Government Relations & External Affairs Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers across print, broadcast, and digital outlets to secure ongoing coverage of RTGFLs mission and impact. Represent RTGFL in interviews, press conferences, and public forums, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with the organizations brand and mission. Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, op-eds, media advisories, and talking points; ensure materials are accurate, timely, and compelling. Position RTGFLs CEO, board, and leadership as recognized experts in affordable housing, community revitalization, and disaster recovery through proactive media outreach and speaking engagements. Develop and lead response strategies for sensitive or high-visibility issues, ensuring transparency and brand protection. Support advocacy and government relations efforts by aligning policy messaging with communications strategies, drafting testimony, and preparing briefing materials. Cultivate relationships with civic leaders, community organizations, and coalitions to amplify RTGFLs voice and expand its influence. Track media coverage, public sentiment, and policy developments; provide regular reports to the CEO and board with recommendations to strengthen RTGFLs public profile. Marketing, Digital Engagement & Storytelling Oversee the execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, print, social, events). Use video production and storytelling to elevate awareness and engagement. Manage creation of marketing materials, visual assets, and donor-focused content. Track and analyze campaign metrics to refine strategies. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Special Projects Work closely with development and operations teams to align marketing with fundraising and advocacy campaigns. Manage consultants, vendors, and external partners on strategic initiatives. Provide tailored communication support for grants, donor relations, and community partnerships. Qualifications and Skills Education and Experience Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field (masters preferred). 810 years of senior leadership experience in communications, marketing, or PR. Nonprofit experience is strongly preferred. Leadership & Management Demonstrated success in managing and developing teams of 510+ staff and contractors. Proven ability to set departmental goals, establish KPIs, and lead performance management processes. Experience in managing departmental budgets, allocating resources strategically, and ensuring cost-effectiveness. Track record of building high-performing, collaborative teams that deliver measurable results. Skills and Competencies Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a team, including supervision and mentoring. Strong financial management experience, including budgeting and KPI setting. Advanced knowledge of digital marketing, SEO, analytics, and content strategy. Proven record in video production and storytelling. Ability to build strong relationships with media, policymakers, and stakeholders. Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot). Preferred Qualifications Experience in government relations, public affairs, or advocacy communications. Strong nonprofit background in donor engagement and fundraising campaigns.
