Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director of Arts Center & Events Reporting to: Director of of Groups & First Impressions Hours per week: 40 FLSA: Exempt (Salaried – no overtime) Date: March 2026 Purpose: The Director of Arts Center & Events serves as the primary leader and public-facing representative of the Riverbend Centre. This role is responsible for driving sales and business development, overseeing daily operations, managing financial performance, and supporting board governance. Working closely with the Community Engagement Executive Director, this position ensures that the Centre operates with excellence, hospitality, fiscal responsibility, strategic growth in alignment with Riverbend Church vision. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Business Development Responsibilities • Serve as the primary “face of Riverbend Centre” to prospective and existing clients, in collaboration with and under the direction of the Community Engagement Executive Director and collaboration with the First Impressions Director, including weddings, celebrations of life, banquets, and other special events., • Proactively solicit new business and cultivate relationships that expand the Centre’s reach and impact., • Represent Riverbend Centre at community events and networking opportunities., • Negotiate contracts in collaboration with the Centre team., • Identify and communicate to the Executive Director any operational or capital needs required to secure additional business or improve client service. Operational Responsibilities • Superintend the daily operations of the Riverbend Centre, reporting directly to the Community Engagement Executive Director., • Secure, delegate, and execute contracts with the Executive Administrator for all Centre bookings., • Oversee Riverbend Centre staff for all Centre-hosted and Centre-supported events, including weddings, celebrations of life, banquets, and community and ministry events., • Coordinate all event-related details (food, catering, equipment, space setup, staffing, timelines, and vendor coordination) with the appropriate church and Centre departments, with particular attention to weddings, celebrations of life, and banquets., • Develop and maintain an understanding of comparable facilities and market rates to ensure the Centre remains competitive., • Serve as the daily supervisor of the Executive Administrator., • Build and maintain a reliable pool of production and technical contractors., • Manage the production of Centre events in collaboration with the church production team, ensuring excellence and care for weddings, celebrations of life, banquets, and other signature events. Financial Responsibilities • Enter and monitor all Centre transactions within the accounting system., • Request and track client payments in a timely manner; ensure all payables are processed on schedule., • Maintain accurate records of all receivables and oversee the collection of any past-due balances., • Work closely with Riverbend Church’s accounting department to ensure monthly Income Statements and Balance Sheets are prepared and distributed to the Executive Director, board members, and other appropriate stakeholders., • Collaborate with the accounting department to update projected cash flows, ensuring sufficient cash is available for payables and notifying the Executive Director of any potential discrepancies or shortfalls., • Manage and delegate payroll records for all Riverbend Centre employees and outside contractors, ensuring payroll checks, year-end W-2s, 1099s, and required documentation are properly catalogued., • Receive the annual budget from the Executive Director and manage monthly budgets accordingly, notifying the Executive Director of any significant projected changes., • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to maintain a balanced budget, • Board Responsibilities, • Partner with the Executive Director and Executive Administrator to plan agendas for all board meetings., • Attend all board meetings prepared to report on profit and loss statements, cash flow, and past and upcoming events., • Coordinate meeting logistics with the Executive Administrator. Qualifications & Skills (Preferred) • Proven experience in event management, venue operations, or arts center leadership, • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cash flow, and financial reporting, • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities, • Strong communication skills and comfort representing the organization publicly, • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments This role is ideal for a strategic, relational leader who thrives at the intersection of hospitality, operations, and mission-driven business.
