Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef with expertise in Japanese cuisine to join our on-demand culinary leadership team in San Diego. This role requires in-depth knowledge and precise execution of traditional and modern Japanese dishes, with experience serving high-profile clients in fine dining or private settings. Candidates must be comfortable working under strict confidentiality and will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). As Sous Chef, you will oversee a team of cooks, ensure the highest culinary standards are met, and maintain the integrity and authenticity of the cuisine in fast-paced, exclusive environments. Responsibilities * Lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations during service * Maintain food quality, consistency, and elegant presentation across all dishes * Execute high-level prep and production using premium ingredients * Train and mentor line cooks and prep staff, fostering a high-performance team culture * Oversee inventory, ordering, and kitchen organization * Manage food and labor costs, reduce waste, and ensure profitability * Enforce sanitation, food safety, and HACCP protocols at all times * Work collaboratively with front-of-house teams and other managers to ensure seamless guest service * Serve as the point of contact for kitchen-related decisions during service Qualifications * Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef in fine dining, catering, or high-volume kitchens * Proven leadership and kitchen management experience * Strong technical knowledge of ingredients, cooking methods, and plating standards * Ability to handle inventory, food and labor cost management, and vendor relationships * Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills * Must have reliable transportation within San Diego County * Smartphone and email access required for scheduling and communication * Required attire: Chef coat, black pants, apron, black non-slip shoes Benefits * Flexible Scheduling: Choose your own shifts based on availability * Weekly Pay: Get paid every week via direct deposit * Competitive Pay Rates: $28 – $30 per hour * Exciting Work Environments: Cook at wineries, fine dining venues, event spaces, schools, hospitals, and more * Variety & Experience: Work with diverse teams and cuisines We Celebrate Diversity Culinary Staffing Services DBA GoLive!
