Job Description Summary: A Construction Project Manager will be assigned to mostly water and wastewater construction projects. This person participates as a member of the project team and coordinates with with field personnel to insure the jobs are completed within the time, budget, and specifications assigned. Essential Functions: • Establishing effective communication with owners, engineers and project team, • Establishing effective communication with subcontractors and suppliers, • Coordinate with Public Relations, Funding Agency, and Bldg. Inspectors, • Coordinate permitting: (CID, SWPP, Dig, City, County, Paving, Cut, Dust Control, Traffic Control, Plumbing, etc.), • Reviewing and approving material take offs, • Reviewing and approving subcontractor scopes, • Request schedule of values from Major suppliers and sub-contractors, • Purchase orders, • Develop, Maintain, & As Built schedules with MS Project, • Composing, reviewing and issuing project submittals, • Attends and ensures preparedness for project pre-construction conferences, • Composes, maintains and updates project field files, • Monitors and records quantities installed for pay application approval, • Approves quantities for pay application with engineer, • Assists superintendent with subcontractor management, • Approves Subcontractor pay applications, • Approves Supplier material invoices, • Attend and lead project meetings with Agenda & Updated Schedule, • Serve as main point of contact for all project communications, • Mark up Plans & Specs with Addenda, • Initiate change orders, change order requests, field orders and RFI’s, • Develop monthly status reports for projects, • Coordinate Safety trainings, • Monitor/Track safety incidents and report to Owner and Engineer at Progress Meetings, • Develop an Emergency Plan, • Procure equipment, • Manage materials, • Issue letters of intent, • Monitor contract days and request substantial completion, • Coordinate start-up and testing, • Assist with Demobilization, • Substantial completion walk-through, • Manage Close-Out and Punch list Secondary Functions: Job Scope: The Construction Project Manager plans, budgets, and oversees all aspects of their assigned projects. Project Managers work closely with upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule. The Project Manager must be well-versed in construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Strong organizational skills, follow-through, accountability, and communication skills., • High degree of professionalism and strong work ethic with a desire to learn and grow in the construction industry, • Personable individual with excellent writing skills, good at researching, brainstorming, and networking, • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently with limited guidance., • Working knowledge of reading blue prints/construction drawings, specifications, and contracts, • Working knowledge of the construction industry, construction planning, and scheduling, • Working knowledge of surveying and construction grade checking, • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook Other Qualifications: • Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned, • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary Education and/or Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related degree program from an accredited four-year college or university., • Experience in civil infrastructure, industrial, street improvements, underground utilities, and waste/wastewater treatment facility work. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
