Job Description Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator Location: Houston, TX Pay Rate: Starting at $39.00/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking a Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator to join a leading healthcare facility in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for a laboratory professional who is passionate about quality, regulatory compliance, and improving patient care through effective point-of-care testing programs. The POCT Coordinator will play a key role in overseeing testing processes, training clinical staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the overall quality and efficiency of the POCT program. Responsibilities • Coordinate and oversee Point of Care Testing (POCT) programs to ensure quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance across clinical sites., • Standardize testing procedures and support the implementation of best practices for POCT operations., • Develop, implement, and maintain POCT policies, procedures, and quality control programs in compliance with CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards., • Assist with the evaluation, validation, and implementation of new testing methodologies, instrumentation, and systems., • Monitor quality control data, documentation, and testing performance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements., • Coordinate and manage proficiency testing programs and ensure appropriate corrective actions when needed., • Provide training, orientation, and ongoing competency assessments for staff performing POCT., • Conduct on-site reviews of POCT locations to evaluate testing procedures, equipment usage, and regulatory compliance., • Support inspection readiness by coordinating regulatory inspections, mock surveys, and documentation preparation., • Investigate testing discrepancies, instrumentation issues, or quality concerns and implement corrective solutions., • Maintain POCT data management systems, review system flags, and ensure accurate operator and patient identification records., • Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathology administration, nursing staff, and other departments to improve testing workflows and patient care outcomes., • Participate in continuing education, professional development, and safety training initiatives., • Assist with performance improvement initiatives through data collection, analysis, and reporting. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related chemical, physical, or biological science., • Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required., • Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience required., • Prior Point of Care Testing (POCT) experience preferred but not required., • Knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards including CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission requirements., • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills., • Ability to train staff, manage quality programs, and support regulatory compliance in a clinical environment.
