This position demonstrates the ability to continuously progress in skill to care for increasingly complex patients, receiving coaching from experienced Transplant Coordinators and management, benefiting from their practice. At Houston Methodist, the Transplant Recovery Nurse position leads organ procurement services required for transplantation and manages the peri-operative phase of recipient transplantation. This position serves as a mentor and resources for team members. The Transplant Recovery Nurse position reviews cadaveric donor organ offers, assesses clinical diagnostics, and evaluates case details with transplant physicians to determine suitability which includes the dissemination of pertinent transplant case information, providing clinical guidance to other departments, and full coordination of the organ recovery and transplant events. This position will assist the physicians in caring for the needs of the patients using specialized clinical knowledge and skills and will provide support for patient and family during the wait for transplant. The Transplant Recovery Nurse position will lead the organ recovery process according to transplant center protocol which includes meeting the supply, equipment, and transportation needs of the transplant team to ensure an optimal recovery environment. In collaboration with the physicians, this position will implement appropriate organ and tissue-specific preservation as requested. The Lead Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist functions as the lead person for Radiologic Technologists in the Catherization Laboratory, generally for an assigned shift and in this capacity performs lead job duties and/or regularly leads projects or performs specialized responsibilities as a regular part of normal job responsibilities. At Houston Methodist, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care and services to diverse patient population and their families and performing EKGs and collecting lab specimens under direction of the licensed nurse and/or provider. This position performs patient care activities of daily living (ADL's) within unit specific defined limits and job scope. The EMT/Paramedic position demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks, conducting hourly rounding to ensure patient needs are met and records data established by policy and procedure, reporting observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse and/or provider. Documents, where applicable, comprehensive screenings, care administered, diagnostic measurements, allergies and medication lists, treatments and procedures as determined by skills, training and validation (i.e., vital signs, 12 Lead EKG, phlebotomy, ultrasound-guided I.V. catheter insertion, CPR, splinting, specimen collection, immobilization by backboard, extrication from vehicles) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Repeats vital signs according to policy., • Observes patients, making hourly rounds to ensure patient needs are met (four P's), for condition change. Reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to the licensed nurse to achieve desired patient outcomes. Responds to the call light system, contacting nursing personnel as appropriate, and follows through with meeting patient needs, • Uses rapid assessment skills to accurately identify patients' severity of illnesses, deterioration of conditions, and risks for adverse events, and communicates findings to licensed nurse and/or provider. Applies critical thinking skills to recognize abnormal ECGs, vital signs, and mental status to monitor high risk patients out of the department as delegated., • Manages incoming patient information by receiving pre-arrival notifications from EMS providers per unit protocols. Provides for the privacy of patients and families, keeping the safety of the patient in mind., • Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Assists with patient and staffing needs (floats) across the service line or hospital as competencies allow. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. At Houston Methodist, the Pharmacy Clinical Specialist position is responsible for performing advanced clinical pharmacy duties enabling the delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy to patients and facilitating safe, efficacious, and pharmacoeconomically rational use of medications in the population(s) served. This position involves daily reactive and targeted proactive medication regimen reviews for patients within the designated area(s) of responsibility or populations served. The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist position supports the delivery of pharmacy managed protocols, formulary processes and medication reconciliation activities while providing education to fellow pharmacists, nurses, and medical staff. Additional duties for this position include precepting pharmacy students and pharmacy residents on clinical patient care rotations within areas of responsibility and contributing to fulfilling the organization's mission to provide innovative, personalized, cost-effective pharmaceutical care in a culture dedicated to quality and safety.
