American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Tertiary care hospital setting in a PCU with a focus on renal patients, including transplant cases, • Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6, and renal transplant patients are 2:1 for 48 hours, • Duties include care for patients with peritoneal dialysis catheters, hemodialysis management, wound care, diabetes encephalopathy, and thymo administration, • Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and telemetry monitoring are required, • Day shift position with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:45 to 19:15, • Required to work 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period, including Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, • Floating may be required within scope to other units, departments, or facilities as needed, • No on-call responsibilities, • EMR system used: Epic, • Perform specialized care for complex renal and transplant patient populations, • Team environment in a 5-time Magnet Award-winning, Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital, • Scrub color required: Navy, • Epic EMR orientation includes a test-out or training module option prior to start, • Pre-start and compliance training modules must be completed before starting, • Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed, • Free parking available onsite, • Holiday shifts and Charge RN duties as needed per unit requirements, • Drug screening must be passed to maintain assignment eligibility, • No locals accepted; must reside further than 75 miles from facility\n \n Requirements\n, • Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications, • 2 years of recent specialty experience in renal transplant and PCU, with at least 1 year in the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days, • Experience required in caring for renal transplant patients, peritoneal dialysis catheters, hemodialysis management, drains, TPN, wound care, diabetes encephalopathy, acute renal rejection, and thymo administration, • Skills required in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, PCA, and wound vac care, • Preferred skills: CVA experience, surgical drain and chest tube management, tracheostomy management, thymo titration, • Must provide 2 professional references from the past year (one supervisor), • Must live at least 75 miles from the facility address, • First-time travelers accepted, • No travel partners accepted\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
