This position follows a set schedule of Tuesday through Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and includes a required commitment to assist with the Center’s weekly vaccination clinic on Saturdays. Summary The Animal Wellness Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the health, safety, and overall well-being of all animals at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. This role ensures timely medical care, vaccinations, and behavioral support while maintaining accurate records and adhering to disease management protocols. The Animal Wellness Coordinator works closely with the Pathway Specialist, Pet Adoption Center veterinary team, and shelter staff to manage animal intake, transport, and enrichment. Responsibilities Animal Care & Medical Oversight • Perform daily health checks for all cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies to ensure their well-being., • Identify medical needs and coordinate timely medical and surgical care., • Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as prescribed by the Center veterinarian., • Maintain detailed and accurate medical and behavioral records in the animal database system., • Collaborate with the Pathway Specialist to assess and process incoming animals for health and adoptability., • Coordinate veterinary appointments and provide safe transportation for animals to and from veterinary clinics or partner agencies., • Review budgets and financial reports related to animal medical care., • In conjunction with the Director of Operations, partner with Kennel and Adoptions teams to review and update cleaning and sanitation protocols annually., • Review and respond to staff and volunteer reports regarding animal health concerns., • Train and mentor staff on administering vaccinations, microchipping, and medications when needed., • Remain informed about trends and advancements in the field., • In partnership with the Director of Operations, participate in hiring and training staff and volunteers when needed., • Ensure thorough, accurate, and compliant recordkeeping and reporting., • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations., • Model and promote the mission, values, and philosophy of the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. Qualifications • Licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)* in the State of California (required).*, • Minimum of two years of experience in an animal shelter or similar setting (required)., • Proven leadership experience in animal care, behavior, or shelter operations., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and management., • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment., • Compassionate and professional demeanor when addressing sensitive medical or end-of-life situations., • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy., • Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques., • Commitment to MSRPAC’s mission and ability to positively represent the organization.
